August Fancy Box Review + Giveaway
Time to finally get around to my Fancy box. My august box came pretty timely this month (compared to the Tyler Florence Fancy August box I received in September...) This box is a bit strange since they changed the categories... more on that later- let's get to it. Giveaway info at the end, wait for it...
The Fancy:
Type: Lifestyle Box
Cost: $39+$2.95/month for regular box
What is it?: For those who don't know, TheFancy is like pinterest but for products especially cool and amazing items. When you sign up you choose 3 categories- we chose Home, Gadgets, Media. You then receive an array of some of the cool items that are on the site. The worth is well beyond the $30 it costs and you receive amazing products! TheFancy also pairs with celebrities to make boxes- Ashton Kutcher's was $45 and currently P!nk has her own box for $35 and a Coco Rocha one. Check it out. Love the info cards.
Looking at the cards, I was sorta pissed. Three things were men's things- wtf? I subscribe as my bf (cause I wouldn't wear graphic tees so it's under Male and his t-shirt size) but the category isn't Men's. It's supposed to be Workplace, Home, Gadgets. I went to The Fancy to contact them (I've always had great luck with their customer service) but I checked on my subscription first. Turns out they removed a bunch of categories so I was only listed for 2/3 I needed and I think they defaulted to men's stuff. I've since changed it. My bad. AND technically only two thing's were men's. One was media for a guy. I over-react.

Tovolo Ice Sphere Mold: We've gotten quite a few ice molds from The Fancy and we love 'em. Especially the big square ones we got recently. These are our absolute favorite though! They are amazing in water and cocktails. They look crazy cool and they melt slower than regular small ice cubes so your drink doesn't get watery. Love 'em. Price: $10
Laex Card Holder: Wasn't thrilled by this. CJ got another card case from Birchbox Man that he likes better and this color isn't his thing. It is a men's card holder but I wouldn't be able to use it anyway- I carry more than a few cards with me. I gifted it to a friend- he said he could use it going to clubs/bars. Easier than bringing your whole wallet. Good call. Price: $27
Stay Dry- Butterfly Tee: Another men's item. CJ has gotten great shirts from The Fancy but was unsure this would be up his alley! He just rarely wears white tees. He's actually worn it a few times already and it looks great. I really like the design and it's a great quality tee too. Price: $32
Man of the World: This "new paradigm of magazines" looks great but isn't quite our thing. I'm all for coffee table items but I like kitschy or funny stuff. This was pretty cool looking with great men's fashion in it but I hate having items I don't use in the house- it makes them feel useless. I passed this on to a fashionable male friend- much better! If CJ was into men's fashion or mags like GQ this would be the bomb of men's magazines. It's pretty cool. Price: $20
Jelly Fish Set: Yeah! A new gadget. Confession: I grimace a lot at first look to my Fancy items (mainly gadgets), I just think ugh, not usable, and then I love them! I use my phone stand from The Fancy all the time, the shower speaker, the iHome speaker, etc. etc. All. The. Time. Even when I don't know how or when, I know it will eventually become something awesome. This seemed cool but I couldn't help wondering when I would use an outdoor phone stand and sun shield. I watch things on my phone all the time though! Not just internet vids but actual shows and such on Netflix. On my phone. Now I could do it outside. Ok, I know this just shows our ever-growing dependency on phones but would it be so bad to watch a movie with CJ on the beach? I think not! Price: $28
Verdict: First off, it's SO hard to take a pic of all this stuff! Ok, this was not my favorite Fancy box. If I had paid full price, I might've been upset... maybe. I mean I got three great items for well over what I paid. This box came out to a total of $117! Nice. The ice molds are our fav, even if they were the cheapest thing in the box! CJ likes his new shirt, the sun shield set will get used someday, and I gifted two items to a friend (I'll call them early B-day presents).
I'll probably never quit getting the regular Fancy box. I mean, we used the herb chopper from our last box today... Actually, I'd guess I used around 6 The Fancy items today alone. This might not have been the best box but I still love it- AND I like the other curated boxes they are sending out too!
