August Pretty Power Box Review
Pretty Power Box is a relatively new box that is always full of surprises. I never know what to expect to get- makeup, office stuff, bath products, food, jewelry, it's such an assortment, you just never know! Since its creation, I can honestly say that July was my favorite month, it was chock full of goodness and although I still had no idea what would be in store for August, I was excited. It's been awhile since I got this box, but that doesn't mean I can't still share! Check it out!Pretty Power Box:
Type: Lifestyle Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: Pretty Power Box is the subscription box for the female entrepreneur! The mission of Pretty Power Box is to encourage young female entrepreneurs to live a healthy work-life balance. So in each box you'll find entrepreneurial/office items, beauty items, healthy choice items, and items made from small business. Each box will be a combination of popular name brand items as well as items from smaller businesses.
The box- still the most original out there.
First look.
Pretty Power Box Pen: This is a neat pen and I get that this is a new box and so they get new subscribers each month BUT they sent this pen out before... Don't love repeat items too much but at least it's a really good pen. Price: $1
Staples Business Card Holder: Usually PPB sends out one business inspired item and this looks to be it this month. I don't work in a field with many business cards anymore (although I've thought about making some in the past that pretty much just say Laura Begley mezzo- ridiculous). I love fun business cards but unless you are a creative type with a creative card (think graphic designer) people don't use business cards since you can get info other ways. Not sure yet what to do with this. I think I'll re-purpose it to hold all my info cards for boxes! Price: $1.79
Coast of Eden- Vanilla Mint Lip Balm: This month the etsy shop Coast of Eden sent out not 1, but 2 lip balms! This company from Maine specializes in natural and handmade bath and beauty products and judging from their card and store site, their lip balms are top sellers. They look and remind me of the Ophelia's Apothecary ones I have which is definitely a good thing. I love those babies which means I'm a fan of this too! Since I got 2 of the same flavor (smell/type?) I gifted one to a friend- doesn't mean I don't like it, just wanted to share the wealth. P.S. Vanilla Mint is one the best smells/favors of lip balm ever. Price: $8
Nature Valley- Granola Thins: Usually PPB sends out a snack (to power your through your day) and some have been lackluster. They are kind of a sidenote so it doesn't super matter but I was actually happy to see this month's product! CJ and I make occasional trips to CostCo and have almost picked up these exact snacks before but, of course, in jumbo offerings. I always forget about them in the supermarket but refuse to indulge at CostCo before giving them a try for myself first. Turns out it's pretty delicious- at 80 cals I thought it'd be a lot of cals for such a small bite but it was sweet and filling. Right on. Price: $0.27
N4you Soaps: N4You, an etsy shop, sent out two handmade soaps: calming chamomile and monkey farts... yep, monkey farts. One, the names are awesome, two, the packaging is perfect. Sweet and adorable. The chamomile one smells just as you would imagine... and monkey farts smells delicious. For reals. Now, I don't usually use bar soap but I've been trying it every so often and I like changing up my routine. Plus, CJ uses bar soaps so I think he'll find the chamomile one will work great once he uses up his current one. Price: $13
Jenny Bean Beautiful Mighty Mini Mischief Soy Candle: This etsy shop- Jenny Bean Beautiful- makes a variety of candles including a couple whimsical mustachioed ones! There is this mini 3 oz version and a larger scale one as well. I'm not sure what scent this is (no info) but I think it's Citrus paradise since that is the one you get if you don't select... I really have no clue BUT I do know it smells super good. We use candles all the time- candles are the best de-stressor- so I loved getting this fun piece featuring the trend that probably shouldn't be called a trend anymore (it's been years now...). My only issue is that the decal is slightly askew... ah well, it won't come off and it smells great so no big complaints. Price: $8
No idea what's in store for September but I'm, once again, excited! Btw- it looks like you can now bundle subscriptions at Pretty Power Box- don't know if this was available before so I thought I'd make it known! Pay $50 for Sept, Oct, Nov, & Dec aka a savings of $10. Check it out!
