September Umba Review + Promo Code
I'd ALWAYS wanted to give Umba Box a try- in fact, it's the first subscription box I ever bought... just for someone else. No, really! It's what introduced me to this world! Someone I vaguely know from a college class posted about Umba on FB and I thought, here's something interesting. I didn't buy it for myself though- I bought a special Mother's Day subscription! Craziness- right?! Anyway, when Umba offered to send me a box to review, I JUMPED at the chance. Each month is super different since it features artisan goods- I, however, knew what to expect since I received my box way later than other blogger reviewers- whoops- my bad for not sending me address earlier/living in Tejas! Anyway, let's look at the handcrafted goodness!
Umba Box:
Umba Box:

Box
"A Handmade Surprise Every Month"
First Look!
Umba Box comes with artist stories each month giving info about the artist behind the craft.
Didn't take a pic of the card but Umba Box also has Umba Ambassadors- it's like Stella & Dot where you host Trunk shows and such earning 20% commission- look it up if anyone reading is interested!
Fox + Anchor Paper- Set of 4 Coasters: This business (found here on etsy) applies all their ink by hand- woah- loads of work. Definitely a lot of extra effort in this business! I have coasters everywhere, including artsy ones from fairs (they are tiles with hand-laid pics from Austin on them) so I love a good coaster. When I first heard I'd be getting coasters though, I wasn't thrilled since I do have so many, BUT these ones are adorable! Seriously, so cute. They totally fit my vibe too! I love the cutesy bows. These are also really thick paper coasters aka well-made! Score. Price: $8
Natasha J Collection- Half Moon Necklace: I checked out this independent jewelry maker's site (here) and I definitely love a lot of her stuff. I want that layered chevron necklace and her rings! I was nervous about this necklace since I hate gold jewelry (hate is probably too strong of a word) and don't wear the stuff. Imagine my relief to see a dark bronzed chain in person. Gold (bright yellow) totally clashes with my style and coloring but a darker bronze color almost fades away next to a colored piece. This necklace lays well and is a good length (I hate when it hits just the wrong area!). My only wish is that Umba Box could have sent out multiple colors. This handcrafted pottery half moon came in several colors including a coral that looks stunning! The coral wasn't for sale on etsy though I guess... Anyway, piece in hand, I'm a happy camper. Price: $30
Verdict: At $38 value, this box pays for itself- usually what you get with handcrafted boxes is quite a discount- I mean you are saving $13 but that doesn't cover the shipping of each thing too- so really the value saved is even higher! You never know what great finds Umba Box has discovered until you get the box in the mail and getting this box really makes me want to see what they will be sending in the coming months! I want!
Again, Umba Box is $25 BUT you can save $5 until 9/30 by using the promo code they made for my readers: BROKEOCT!
Check 'em out!
