August Treatsie Review

Last day to enter my Fancy Box Giveaway!

My 2nd to last August review! I left this to the end since I wasn't anticipating the September Treatsie box. I needed to cancel about 2 boxes and Treatsie got the cut- sorry- I love the idea and the Kickstarter start and everything but I couldn't justify the cost right now AND honestly, August's box wasn't the best. Let's get it to it!

Treatsie:
Type: Food Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: This brand new candy- think bon bons- subscription company features artisan chocolates with a technological flair. When you open up your box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get (I had to-sorry). How do you not know? No info card or top of the box explaining what's inside. Instead you look up the treats online or on their app and find out all kinds of things about your treats. Sign up now to be alerted to the next round of memberships. First peek!

Real first look

This Charming Candy- Blackberry + Hibiscus & Watermelon Basil Lollipops: I was way excited for these! I had just gotten my Bonjour Jolie box and had two amazing lollipops with yummy flavors. These more exotic pops looked even better!!! Watermelon and basil go great together so I saved that for last and opened the blackberry hibiscus one... I'm sorry but this wasn't anything to squeal about. I was in a serious sweet crazing mode and this was not fulfilling it- I gave it to CJ and opened the second one. Watermelon and basil go well together (good summery salad) but this was weird. Not good. I'm sorry This Charming Candy, but I'm not a fan. CJ wasn't either. We threw the watermelon one away and CJ finished the first one.
Price: $5

Seattle Chocolates- Cappuccino Crunch: This was a let-down on two fronts. I love milk chocolate but hate coffee flavored stuff. They sent out 3 varieties of Seattle Chocolates (which I totally love) and the other two were a Birthday Cake Truffle Bar which would have been 100% perfect for me and CJ would have loved too and a S'mores Bar which would be 100% perfect for CJ and I would have loved too. Instead we got one CJ would like and I wouldn't care for. Didn't matter in the end though. Second problem? Almost completely melted. We threw it in the freezer but it got weird- it was too far gone. Didn't even try it. Guess it didn't matter too much that it was the only one of 3 we didn't want... Although I would have drunk the Birthday Cake one up with a straw if it came melted. Price: $3

Slade Grove Creative Gourmet- Watermelon & Vanilla Latte Caramels: Some relief from this box of usual goodness! I loved the watermelon taffy from July so hoped this would be amazing too. It was definitely good but not amazing. The vanilla latte was ok for me since again coffee flavored stuff isn't my jam. An ok 2 caramels. Price: $3.33

Verdict: I got $11.33 in value for this $15 box. That doesn't always worry me. Quality over quantity and all that. But 1 thing came inedible, the 2 lollis were unexciting, and Treatsie has sent more amazing caramels out before... I can't hate on these though- they were good just not great. It was an unenthusiastic unboxing to say the least. I'd been considering cutting this box out of my budget but I had loved and discovered so much before! Liddabit in June was amazing- those caramels and that lollipop! July was great especially Mehlenbacher’s Watermelon Taffy! May was great too- mmm nutwhats! Sometimes you get a box that was so disappointing though that you have to at least take a break! This was such a box. I can't believe I spent $15 to kind of like 2 caramels. September's box just looked alright so I'm fine with missing it and I'm keeping on my break with Treatsie. Disappointing box overall- the only thing it elicited from me was wanting to try the Seattle Chocolates we were unlucky enough to not receive. Boo.
