July Birchbox Review

This month Birchbox had the theme Power Play. Usually their "themes" mean nothing but this month they partnered with USA's Suits which I thought was super interesting- I actually don't know how it applies especially in comparison with their last partnership with Women's Health that totally made sense. Anyway, each box had a "Suit's pick." Let's check it out!

Birchbox:
Type: Beauty Box
Cost: $10/month includes shipping
What is it?: Every month you receive a box of 4-6 beauty and lifestyle products. Each month there are about 30+ different boxes that you might be sent which makes each month a surprise. Birchbox is a great forum to learn about and discover new products and brands. Birchbox has a points system given when a subscription plan is purchased, reviewing products, and buying full-size products in their shop. Every 100 points can be used as $10 off. Use my referral code to get started but know that Birchbox has a waiting period of usually 4-5 weeks.

The outer box.

Inner box. I wish there was less packaging...

*I got Box #26 out of #54!

With being behind and such I didn't check online for what was in my box OR the other boxes. I was super happy with my box but I admit there were a few great looking boxes in the 54. I think if I would have peeked beforehand I wouldn't have been as happy with my stuff (pre-conceived notions) and I would've been jealous of others. From now on, no peeking until after I get my box.

Info card.

First look.

Caldrea- Coconut Fig Leaf Body Lotion: I received two samples of this fast-absorbing lotion. There are apparently three scents so I'm a bit surprised that I got two of the same scent. People love this lotion so I have high hopes. Price: $1.38

ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Peony: Sometimes the info cards for Birchbox are super unhelpful. The "How" for this product? "Use the built-in mirror for easier application." There is no built-in mirror and the one soffered for sale with Birchbox don't either. It's only the ModelCo website ones that have the built-in mirror with a completely different tube. That being said this lipstick feels GREAT on and actually smells good too which is strange but I'm not complaining. The color is pretty brilliant too. Price: $8

Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream: This was my "Suits" pick. This Birchbox exclusive is supposed to repair skin damage and provide hydration for up to 26 hours. I have redness on my nose (and chin/cheeks sometimes) and if this works, I'll be sold! Price: ~$4.80

I.C.O.N. India Oil: At first I though, ugh, another oil. And then I realized I actually need this! I don't have any argan hair oil right now and my hair is a disgusting mess! Granted, I badly need a cut but in the meantime (thinking of finding a new salon) this will hopefully re-nourish my hair! Price: $3.58

Bad Pic but you can see how big these are- that's only one in my hair.

Birchbox Bobby Pins: I LOVE these. Yes, love. I love a good bobby pin and these monsters are awesome. Twice the size of any I have now and the pattern it adorable. My bangs haven't been cut in two months so let's just say I don't have bangs right now and I'm living in bobby pins. I love these and am considering using some Birchbox points to buy the set. Especially a fan of the blue color I got. Price: $1.67

Verdict: This $10 gave me back around $19.43 in value (I have no idea about the Dr. Jart since no size was listed). I'm a little jealous of the Benefit and Balm stuff people got in their boxes but I can honestly say I'll use all my stuff and besides the Dr. Jart, I know I'll use the products more than once (have to try the Jart first). Lovin my Birchbox lately which is great since I wasn't thrilled for awhile at the beginning of this year. Don't forget to review your products if you're a member to earn points (5 for me aka $5 earned).

What box did you guys get? Share! Share!

  1. Your box looks great! I received the bobby pins, a CC cream that is way too light, shampoo and in stain blush. My suits pick was the G-1 face cream. It was my least favorite thing in the box! I loved the blush & bobby pins.

    1. I remember seeing that blush! Jealous. I feel like they don't do a great job pairing foundation colors with your own coloring.

  2. I received box#44. I didn't care for most of the products in this months box. I did like the bobby pins. The BB cream and Benefit foundation was way too dark for me. Hopefully next month is better. :)

    1. Oh, to find what box # you have? Click on Women's Box (if that's what you get) and scroll down to the bottom of the page it'll say "Box History." Hope that helps.
