June Bespoke Post Review
CJ here again - helping with the reviews for my boxes while Laura catches up from her trip. I loved last month's Bespoke Post, so I was really excited for this month's installment. Summer is in full swing, and for me that means it is grilling season! Of course, I have been known to fire up the grill rain or shine (and once in the snow), but now is the time when I try new recipes, and techniques.Bespoke Post:
Type: Men's Lifestyle Box
Cost: $45/month
What is it?: From their website: "Bespoke Post delivers fresh and interesting lifestyle brands and products to men. Each month, you'll get to choose from one of our limited-edition boxes filled with an array of products built around a central, unique theme." Subscribers can preview their box and decide to skip or receive that month's box until the 5th of each month. Please use my referral link if you sign up!This month we chose the Seared themed box.
Here's both sides opened up. We start off with some pretty detailed product description, which I always appreciate. Then surprisingly there is the start of a summer playlist, the rest of which can be found on their website. I'm listening to it right now and it is a pretty good summer mix.
Then on the other side are Cleaning, Storing, Care, and some basic recipes. All good information to have in printed form rather than just online.
The box seemed a little sparse until I lifted up the salt plate! That thing has some major heft to it.
SaltWorks Himalayan Salt Plate: This is one massive slab of salt. What does one do with such a massive condiment? What doesn't one do! This brick of salt has a bunch of uses in the kitchen, fridge, freezer, and grill. Instead of sprinkling salt on your food, you can use the salt plate to prepare, serve, or cook your food. Price: $34.95
From the website: "Sweet tooth? Place ice cream, chocolate or caramel on the ice-cold surface of a frozen block, and have everyone eat directly off the block for an unreal experience." You had me at ice cream! We tried watermelon on the brick and it was amazing. Laura is not one for salt on her watermelon, but I thought it was great.
We also tried heating the plate up on our stove top (with some metal chopsticks in between as suggested in the directions), and cooked some fish. The plate definitely got hot enough to cook the fish, but I am definitely looking forward to trying it on the grill.
Profi Plus Butterfly Turner: Also included was this great utensil. I didn't quite know what to think about this out of the box, but once I used it on the hot salt plate I was sold. It worked perfectly for delicately picking up the fish, and later for cleaning off the drippings. +1 to Bespoke for a good pairing. Price: $24.00
Habanero & Sweet Onion Sugars from Essential Cane: Did I mention before how I like sweets? It was like they knew me or something. Of course when I immediately opened and tasted the Habanero one straight out of the jar I was in for a surprise. I don't know what I was expecting, but this was hot! Tasty though... After my mouth had calmed down a bit I was in for a surprise with the Sweet Onion sugar. It was the best part of some slowly glazed onions without the time and attention. This will definitely make its way into some barbeque sauce before too long. Who knows, it might even be accompanied by some of the habanero. We shall see... Price: $3.60
Verdict: With a total price of $62.55, Bespoke Post is more than worth the $45 subscription. I personally was a huge fan of this month's selections. I'm nearing the end of their summer playlist and have been pleased by their selections there as well. All around a pretty great box.
Another cool thing about Bespoke Post is the ability to skip months. If none of the boxes are striking your fancy you can always skip the month and there will likely be a new one the next time around more to your liking. Please use our link at Bespoke Post to pick out a Box of Awesome of your very own!
