June LootCrate Review

Hi All! CJ here, with the June LootCrate. Laura is starting to catch up on the beauty boxes, so I figured I would pitch in and help with the boxes that I get. I think it's appropriate that for my first guest post I get to review not only my first box - but my favorite! I definitely look forward to LootCrate every month and it definitely a challenge to resist opening the box before the obligatory pictures are taken...

*LootCrate:
Type: Gamer Box
Cost: $13.37/month + $6 shipping
What is it?: Each month you receive 6-8 hand-picked products as well as having the option to win a $250 mega crate. This box is curated around a "geeky theme" helping you stay up all night playing video/computer games and show your gaming love to the world. Use our referral link and save $3 with code VGHS.

Here's the long awaited box!

Bam! What awesomeness awaits??

The LootCrate info cards definitely stick around on my desk longer than some of the other clutter...
I can't decide if that is a good thing or not. This month's theme is Mashup. There is so much crossover in the nerdy/geek/gaming worlds that it is often hard to tell them apart. Lootcrate is celebrating this with a collection of quite a few compound products.

On the back of the info card is the announcement for June's contest. Each month there is usually some sort of contest to win even more awesome products. This month's contest involves the first item in the box:

BIC Tech Stylus 2 in 1 Pen: It's a pen. It's a stylus. It's both. I'm always in need of a good pen. There never seems to be one near my desk when I need one. I swear this one won't leave my desk... at least for a few days. I currently am not using a tablet - I'm making due with the cell and the laptop (and of course my Kindle...) I did get a chance to test this out on my cell and it works great! If I was using a touchscreen laptop or a tablet I could see it coming in very handy with photo editing or similar programs. $5.99

8-Bit Glasses: These glasses are awesome. I normally wear prescription glasses, but we're going to have to break out the contacts so I can wear these this summer... Contrary to what you might think with all squares, these glasses are pretty comfy. $7.99

Dead Pool-Aid T-Shirt: Excited! This is my favorite thing I have received from LootCrate yet. Deadpool is hands down my favorite super-hero/villain/mental patient. In this T-Shirt his wise- cracking, joke-making, brand of insanity morphs into the form of the Kool-Aid Guy. Oh yea! $15

Help a Brother Out          Loot Crate Bot

Stickers: I'm always a fan of stickers. These are definitely going on the bulletin board. Help a Brother Out combines both of the red brothers of two very iconic realms. Loot Crate Bot was designed by Danger Brain, a branding agency whose recent work includes Video Game High School (VGHS). Their motto? "We do cool stuff for cool people." Nice. $2.40 each

Loot Crate Wall Tangrams: While most stickers immediately go on the bulletin board, these haven't found a home yet. I think they might actually be cool enough to grace the back of the laptop... which is a first. $15

Warheads Candies: This took me straight back to middle school. Still as sour on the outside now as they were back then. Good thing they are sweet on the inside! $0.16

Stan Lee's Comikaze Golden Ticket: Unfortunately, there is no way I'd be able to go to this awesome event. That didn't stop me from going to see if I won! This ticket had a coupon code on the back that got you 30-100% off of passes to the huge convention in L.A. $20 - $60

Verdict: The Dead Kool-Aid shirt is more than enough to rocket this box to the top of my favorites. Add some cool stickers and a sweet pair of sunglasses and we have a pretty awesome box. With a total value of $48.94 + the discount at Comikaze, LootCrate scores again from the financial standpoint. But, as with most specialty boxes LootCrate is isn't about the cost. Instead it is about a collection of hand picked awesomeness for the geeks and gamers in your life. Use our referral link and save $3 with code VGHS to pick it up for yourself or for a friend!
