July Treatsie Review

This month's Treatsie box was my favorite yet! They are also branching out- they updated their site this month and even offer on-site shopping now! They even had a coupon today for 20% off to celebrate for National Tequila Day (yes, that's today) but it was only for the first 20 users so no longer valid. Anyway, I'm a big sweet tooth especially non-chocolate things so this box is perfect for me (especially in the summer when it's too hot to ship chocolate!)

Treatsie:
Type: Food Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: This brand new candy- think bon bons- subscription company features artisan chocolates with a technological flair. When you open up your box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get (I had to-sorry). How do you not know? No info card or top of the box explaining what's inside. Instead you look up the treats online or on their app and find out all kinds of things about your treats. Sign up now to be alerted to the next round of memberships. "The Couture Candy of the Month Club."

Packaging/Info. The info is all online- so you can see loads of behind the scenes stuff too.

Double lined casing and ice packs to keep the treats from melting.

The box!

First look!

Real first look.

BrooklynHardCandy – Key Lime: I had seen a spoiler of this somewhere online (either on Treatsie or their FB) but I did not expect an entire jar! These little hard candies are super yummy. "Cooked in small batches using a copper candy kettle, the candy is handcrafted using old school techniques and modern day formulas." Super awesome! Price: $8

Mehlenbacher’s Watermelon Taffy: This. is. the. best. taffy. I. have. ever. had. I used the periods to try and show my intensity. OMG this was amazing. My only complaint was that this was the first thing we tried so it was the first thing gone! I should have savored it more! I've loved previous treats but I haven't wanted to buy caseloads of anything before and I want sooo much of this. The flavor was perfect. CJ and I are in love... with this taffy. By the way, these taffy sticks were 5 inches long so quite sizable chunks of candy.
Price: $1.83

Mehlenbacher’s Vanilla Bean Taffy: Another piece of Mehlenbacher's taffy! This was another great taffy although it couldn't compete with the amazing watermelon taffy (hint: CJ, buy me some for my upcoming B-day). "Mehlenbacher’s Vanilla Bean Taffy is hand-pulled and flavored with a pure vanilla puree."
Price: $1.83

AvenueSweets Butter Rum Caramel: "Handcrafted with real, top quality rum. A classic flavor made the old fashioned way – slow cooked in copper kettles. These rich, buttery caramels are filled with the smooth flavor of rum." Why were these so good? This sizable caramel was delicious and butter rum caramels aren't usually my thing! Super yummy. Price:~$1.50

AvenueSweets Almond Nougat: Another AvenueSweets treat! "The mixture of fresh, whole California almonds and our signature nougat creates a wonderful tasting treat that is subtly – not overpoweringly – sweet. With fresh batches made every day, you’ll always get fresh, tasty nougat." I am not a nougat person but these were pretty darn good! Price: ~$1.50

AvenueSweets Sea Salt Caramel: "Avenue Sweets’ rich, buttery caramels with sea salt deliver a the perfect combination of salty sweetness. These delicious caramels will really please your palate." I LOVE a good sea salt caramel and this one delivers- I think the butter rum trumps this one but barely! Love 'em!
Price: ~$1.50

Verdict: This $16.16 box covers the $15 it costs me and shipped me some new delicious treats! For those wanting for chocolate in their lives, I'd stay tuned until the weather cools down, 100 degree weather does not bode well for shipping chocolate. I beyond loved the watermelon taffy and I really LOVE this box! Totally recommend it for other sweet tooth peeps out there!

I'm nervous since I have to cut back about $50/month and this box is unfortunately something I might have to cut! I love it, but candy isn't exactly something required for living (well, maybe it is) and while it is a Kickstarter project which gives it huge points, no referral program is a hard one for someone making a new budget! I'm keeping it one more month while I see if I can keep it in my budget and in the mean-time, anyone wanting to gift it to me forever is welcome to it ; ) Check out their new site and their goodies online!
