June Ophelia's Apothecary Review

I LOVED my first Ophelia's Apothecary box and was stoked to keep getting this subscription. They have an awesome referral program and she definitely puts a lot of effort into curating each box. Time to show off my June box!

Ophelia's Apothecary:
Type: Indie Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: "A style profile can customize your treats to your preferences, you can cancel at any time or skip a month. Packages will include 4 or 5 fabulous treats, some full sizes, some samples, sometimes a piece of jewelry, information about the products in your box, and coupons and specials just for you based on your spending habits with Ophelia's Apothecary. All products, for the most part, will be straight from our studio, unless I find a treat to include that you might like from elsewhere. If you refer someone, please message me their name and once you have signed up 4 people, you will get one month free!" Right now, you can also sign up through FB but you can also see products and buy on their website. Boxes are also available on a quarterly or bi-annually service as well! Mention my blog (Broke Beauty Blogger) to get a free perfume roller-ball when you order a 3 month sub! Mention my name regardless to help me get referrals!

My box was packed SUPER full this month and very festively!

See? Loads of stuff! I wanted to show the packing too since 1) after last month's spillage OA definitely took an extra step to prevent that and 2) It's packed up so cute and in a way to make me not know what half of it is!

Here's the info paper. She now includes prices! I love the handwritten stuff AND I have to super thank my readers for using me as your referral since I get the next two boxes free!!

Micro Fiber Bath Mitt: Oh, that's what that rolled up pink thing was! She straight up says these are not handmade but who cares since they are so soft and pair great with her handmade goodies. I'm not sure if a bath mitt is necessarily my deal since I love my loofahs but CJ may use it (even though it's pink) but really it's PERFECT for puppy! Soft and gentle! Price: $3

Wild Honeysuckle Shea Butter Soap Sample: This is what would go great with the bath mitt and wow it smells great! She had mentioned thinking about doing a Soap of the Month box (and/or a lip balm box) and I see why now! This smells fantastic and I can't wait to use it! (I'm waiting until I get home to Texas). It smells so summery and perfect! Price: ~$3

Summer '13 Perfume Oil Rollerball: This is obviously an Ophelia's Apothecary original and this unique blend is made of honey, rice flower, peaches, fresh peonies, lilies, and orange blossoms. I found the smell a bit sweet for me at first smell, but I like it much better on! The orange blossoms and peaches really come out and it smells lovely. I was positive that I preferred last month's smell (Siren) so much more aka more my style but this has really grown on me, I'm actually wearing it today! Maybe OA is opening up my perfume boundaries? Price: $8

Buggers.be.gone Bug Repellent: I was so incredibly psyched to get this product! I hate bug spray since it's full of awful chemicals and is bad for the environment AND you! I tend to do the candles and such on our porch and even before I left Texas, the bugs were bad! They are pretty bad in upstate NY too (I've gotten like 10 bites, at least) but my housemates and I ALWAYS forgot to grab bugspray so... I haven't actually used this yet so my fingers are crossed that this will be a miraculous all-natural spray that will solve my Tejas bug problems! Price: $9

Eyeshadow Sample: There is a bit of a difference between the boxes subscribers get and this month, one difference was what fun random surprises you would get (there were three in total) of which I got two awesome things. This eyeshadow sample is gorgeous! I didn't take a pic of the color cause I'm dumb but rose blush is spot-on. I actually wear a rose color pretty much everyday so I was all over this. Rose is great for eyes (especially light eyes like my blue babies) since it adds color and attn to your eyes without being too dark like purple which draws attention to your dark circles which is no fun at all. This says it's a sample but it's the same size as a full-size eyeshadow so that's super awesome. Also, props to OA for an amazing stamp, the lid looks fantastic! Price: $8.99

Bubble Ring: Is it corny how much I love this? I love child-like stuff so I was all about this extra. Talk about a fun, random, summer item! Price: ~$0.50

I saved my fav item for last... what could this be??

Fonte Noir Jewelry- Copper Cuff Earrings: Love these!! OA had hinted at using this artist and some copper cuffs but I didn't delve too much into looking what that meant! Subscribers either got earrings (one-of-a-kind) from a friend of hers from OA's Etsy days or a Made by Ophelia Wire Bracelet which I obviously didn't get. It's a bit of a toss-up which one you would get and I am definitely not complaining since I love these! I got tons of oohs and aahs from my roomies when I unboxed this box since these are so original and lovely! I love 'em! Price: $30

Verdict: All totaled, this $15 box was valued around $62.49 which is killer for an Indie box!! Think about how much time and effort one person goes through to make all this stuff and then you are getting it for a quarter or the price?!? Craziness. Maybe it's my respect for crafty people (which I am NOT) that makes me love this box but I have to say I am sooo excited for my July box which is a huge thing for someone like me who gets a bunch of boxes! While checking their site I saw they just launched a Men's sub for $16... hmmm maybe have to check that out!

Check it out for yourself and mention my name (Broke Beauty Blogger) to get a free perfume roller-ball when you sign up for a 3-month sub OR just cause you are awesome and are giving me referral kudos!

  1. I can't wear earrings that aren't yellow gold (ridiculous right?!) so I got the wrap bracelet. It's sooooo pretty! I love this sub, definitely going to keep it up for awhile. I'm glad you're loving it too!
