June Doteable Review
When Doteable came out, my first thought was, "brilliant!" College kids can 100% benefit from care packages and let's be honest, no one is prepared when they first show up in the dorms. Anyway, on top of an awesome idea, Doteable just started offering a more affordable option- a "mini dorm duffel." Now, they aren't specific to college/dorms so I was super stoked about getting this box to review, especially since I feel dorm-y while staying in someone else's house, with strangers (initially, now we're the best-est of friends), in a place where I'm not from. On to the goods...Doteable:
Type: College Box
Cost: $45/month includes shipping $15/month for mini duffel (includes shipping)
What is it?: From their website: "Doteable is your partner-in-crime as you transition to life in college and beyond. Our essentials care packages for college students (though, let’s face it: the rest of us could use a little care, too) include over $70 worth of necessities. Each duffel is filled with daily essentials (from socks to seasonal accessories) and fun new discoveries." Choose between male/female subscriptions and clothing sizes when you first start.
Again, I got the mini duffel.
First look... I sense a theme.
By "I sense a theme," I meant, "I can read." My duffel was a pre-cursor to 4th of July, which happens to be tomorrow!! (Note- I received this in June)
Bella Red T-shirt: I admittedly wear a lot of blue, white, and red and even have a dress with all three colors. It doesn't look patriotic, really, but I'm just saying I have things I could wear tomorrow, but I hadn't thought too much about it or decided on anything. I like themed holidays though and am still so upset about my amazing green dress that I constantly wore and was perfect for St. Patty's and all Irish festivals and such tearing to the point of no return. Anyway, problem solved. I'm wearing this tomorrow with a white skirt for a touch of the 4th flare without the patriotic craziness that can occur (which is ridiculous). The t-shirt fits since you send your size when you order. Done and done. Price: $26
kb (CostCo) socks: My only complaint about Doteable? No info on the info cards. These Blue and Red socks say kb on them but no other info... I guess that's what the internet is for but for those wondering these are not K.Bell socks but the brand from CostCo. People love 'em according the the internet : ) Anyway, I love me some ankle socks so I'm down for these! I won't wear 'em tomorrow. Summer = no socks except for exercise but if I was running the 4 miler like some of my colleagues here I would be sporting these.
Price: $1.11
Amscan Glow Sticks: Don't judge me, but I LOVE Glow sticks! 4th of July is a big holiday in our fam because it's my mom's birthday so a party is always involved and yet somehow glow sticks have never been a thing for me to have. I love these cheesy things though. This box contained a packet of 5 glow sticks and there are 5 of us at The Manor (our nickname for our house) aka it's kismet! 5 bracelets = 5 awesome people. Go ahead, be jealous. Price: $1.80
American Flag pin: The last item was a small American Flag pin in case the Independence Day theme wasn't yet fully achieved. A Flag pin isn't my thing and the only day I could ever imagine myself sporting this would be tomorrow which I guess is why it's included. Might pass this off to someone or I may put it on, we shall see! Price: ~$2
Verdict: One, this box paid for itself. Two, this box had a distinct theme and stuck with it. Three, this box could completely be for a non-college student. The regular doteable duffel is a better deal and you get really cool stuff and while it will include cool things like sunglasses or jewelry it is geared more towards college students. I think the mini is a better fit for a fun present to someone who isn't necessarily in college. A more universal fun gift although I still would recommend this for someone younger though, as in after 30 the mini is pushing it as a gift. Anyway, I liked this box, especially considering tomorrow is the day to unveil my stuff! It'll all get used (even if I give away the pin) and I love the playful aspects. Fun stuff and I can't wait to see what else they come out with in their mini duffels!
Coupon Time!! Doteable is offering my readers 10% off their first 3 months of the classic duffel subscription with code BROKEBEAUTY- this deal expires on July 31st so get on it!
Disclaimer: This box was provided to me for free for review purposes but 100% gave my honest opinion, no money (or anything else like that) was exchanged under the table : )
