Pretty Power Box April Review
A new box is launching! Pretty Power Box is a brand new box launching June 1st all about empowering the female entrepreneur. Really this is a box about giving women stuff that they can use- whether they are an entrepreneur or not! I work three jobs plus the blog so giving me stuff to work-it-out (imagine saying that with large breaks between each word) is excellent! They are launching June 1st and you can sign up to be notified when subscriptions come up on their site. They ever so nicely sent some boxes out to pre-review. Woot woot!Type: Lifestyle Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: Pretty Power Box is the subscription box for the female entrepreneur! The mission of Pretty Power Box is to encourage young female entrepreneurs to live a healthy work-life balance. So in each box you'll find entrepreneurial/office items, beauty items, healthy choice items, and items made from small business. Each box will be a combination of popular name brand items as well as items from smaller businesses. Pretty Power Box will launch on June 1st. The current site is just a sign-up form, however the site will go LIVE on June 1st. Each month there will be AT LEAST 5 items!
Yes, I was too lazy to sharpie out my address- don't judge!
Woah! Unexpected purple printed box!!! I had NO idea what to expect but having a home-made designed box was not what I was expecting! Purple is my fav color and it could be a play on alliteration- Pretty Purple Power Box! The inside purple tissue paper may be too much since it was a bit peeled up (due to opening and such) but I'm sure kinks will be worked out by June.
Boom! Wow- a lot of stuff! I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of stuff this start-up was able to send out!
The info "card." The pic of the unrolled paper is terrible but you get the gist.
Bambina di Ciocolato- Business Card Holder: I honestly didn't know what this was when I first opened my box but was delighted to find out it was a business card holder. My wallet is always jam-packed (with receipts not money) and putting business cards in there is a hassle. Plus, hard-cased holders take up a ton of clunky room. I had considered making myself singing business cards when I launched my website (it's not really up-to-date now but you can check it out here if you want to) but I needed new headshots. And then my bf had the idea to make some for my blog. It's not a business but it's fun and now that I have this holder I may actually print some off (we have a free coupon too). The bright pink may be too much for some but I don't mind considering I'm not gonna be waving it around 24/7 or anything. Price: $12
Clif- Crunch Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar: Working hard? Don't forget to fuel up with this granola bar! That's the idea with this item. A healthy midday snack and all. I grew up with Clif bars always in the house (my parents are big hikers/bikers/skiers) and so I know I like these. On the Clif product front, I recommend Clid Kids' ZFruit Ropes. No joke- those kid's fruit things are amazing- not as healthy and filling as this sucker is though. Price: $0.40
Treasures by Shabby Chic: I love writing Thank-You cards... when I remember to... and am always for getting more stationary! Why in the world haven't I subscribed to a stationary box? Hmm... Maybe since awesome other boxes like this send me products! This isn't my fav design and not really business-y but I like sending my Grandma handwritten letters with photos inside so these will probably be used for that.
Price: ~$5
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion: I was definitely excited to see some Urban Decay products in this box! I love my Urban Decay Eyeshadows and can't believe I am admitting that I have never tried their eyeshadow primer! I've even heard it's better than my beloved Too Faced primer *gasp*! Gotta look your best working it in the real world! Price: $9
Stars Makeup Haven Eyeshadow Single and Pot: Double whammy with this one! I don't actually know the brand SMH (no, not shake my head!) so it's cool to see this new brand! I love when I get pots when I get singles- gotta give me something to put these suckers! I tried to make a swatch on my arm but it looked stupid so just use your imagination! The eyeshadow is in Twilight which is a kind of combo of silver, blue, and purple. It looks more purple/silver on. I like to wear silver sometimes so this will be used. I like my magnetic palette I got in an Ipsy bag and may put this in there instead and keep the pot as a back-up. It actually fits MAC, Urban Decay, and other brands too! Price: $6 + $2 = $8
Urban Decay- Double Ended Glide Pencil: YES!!! You score big points with me PPB for this product. I don't really use eye liner pencils but I have wanted to try the option again for awhile. I didn't want to buy one since I get so many makeup boxes- the problem? They keep sending brown which looks terrible on me!!! I get that each person is different so I thank PPB for giving a gal some options! This liner has black AND brown. Brava! Thanks for accommodating all of us ladies! Price: $12
Khroma Whip Lash: This mascara comes from the most annoying K sisters in the world! I want to hate/trash this item but I just can't! This mascara increases eyelash health! Ahh- now I HAVE to try it! And this brush?!?! The strangest brush I have seen! Must - Try - New - Mascara! Price: $9.99
Leon Jewelz: This last item is actually a special gift! Wow, this is the NINTH item in a $15 box! That is just craziness! Now, you all know that I don't care for Gold jewelry but I have a friend or two (or reader) that I could gift this to! That being said, I do like the design. I checked out Leon Jewelz' etsy site and really liked the arrow necklace (it's silver) and am considering buying it. I so appreciate finding new stuff from new boxes especially new etsy stores!
Price: ~$15
Verdict: Way to go PPB! This is a great new box that I'm sure people will love! I calculated this box to be $71.39 for a $15 box! What the what?!?!? I can't believe that's right! I estimated the necklace to some other necklaces by the maker and the stationary but even that is only a difference of a few bucks! That is an incredible value! Some makeup boxes don't even give out that much makeup. I got an eyeliner, actually 2!, a primer, an eyeshadow, and a mascara! Plus a treat, jewelry, and two other products! Woah, that is a ton! I really loved the SMH and Urban Decay products and will of course eat any food given to me! When I get some business cards (still in my never-ending undecided phase on when to get myself some) I will throw the case in my purse and etc. etc. I will use all but the necklace which was actually the "extra" of the box. And since I may buy another of that business' necklaces it seems to even out.
What do you all think of this new box? I'm pretty sold on this baby and eager to see what happens when they launch in June- sign up for their e-mail here!
Bonus! If you are a female entrepreneur who would like to have her items featured in Pretty Power Box, please contact info@prettypowerbox.com. This will be a great way to spread awareness of your brand and generate more customers.
Disclaimer: This box was provided to me for review reasons. Opinions are 100% my own!
I wonder if the boxes will always be that full or if it was just for reviewers.
ReplyDeleteEach box will have at least 5 items- some months will have more! This box technically had 8 items with an extra so it sounds like some months will have the same amount!
DeleteI was wondering the same thing as the commenter above me! But yay you get to try urban decay primer now! Also I'm in love with that necklace!! Giveittome. Haha
ReplyDeleteI added some item amount info now. I may have to giveaway this necklace- maybe a double whammy with the one I got from PopSugar! So really TWO giveaways!
DeleteI love the necklace. Is the clif bar a mini one? How do you figure it's worth .40 cents. I do alot of demos and have done many ones for clif bars. They have never been .40 cents sold separately so was curious. There about $2 + in nj. About 17 or 18 for a big box.
ReplyDeleteIt's a regular sized bar! When I price things I go by what I find online. When it comes to products like this it is usually in bulk so I just do a little bit of math. I pick a price that is common and go with it. In stores alone it would cost more but in a box set it's not.
DeleteThis is awesome. I like that it's a variety of stuff but it's not as expensive as Popsugar or TheFancy. And I hope that they weren't just front loading for reviewers, I hope all of their boxes are this great! LOVE that necklace!
ReplyDeleteThank you so so much, Kelly!

ReplyDeleteHello! I was just curious if you opted to receive their June box. I had hoped it would be similar to the box you reviewed above (quality-wise - not name brand wise necessarily) but was very disappointed. I wanted to see what other subscribers received in June (maybe it was just my box?), but have been having a hard time finding any reviews! Thanks! :)
