April The Fancy Food Box Review

Woofta! I finally got my April TheFancy Food Box yesterday! I only say finally because of some shipping issues: turns out it was going to be shipped to my old place so I had to get it held at the FedEx near my place which for some reason tacked on days (the FedEx is less than a mile away). Anyway, I was really excited since my March box was amazing! And because I love food!

*TheFancy:
Type: Lifestyle Box
Cost: $39+$2.95/month for regular box
What is it?: For those who don't know, TheFancy is like pinterest but for products especially cool and amazing items. When you sign up you choose 3 categories from Men's, Women's, Kids, Pets, Home, Gadgets, Media, Sports & Outdoors, and Workspace. You then receive an array of some of the cool items that are on the site. I subscribe to Home, Gadgets, and Workspace. The worth is well beyond the $30 it costs and you receive amazing products!  TheFancy also pairs with celebrities to make boxes- Ashton Kutcher's was $45 and currently P!nk has her own box for $35. There is also a food box for $39 right now and a Coco Rocha one. Check it out. Use my referral code to sign up for TheFancy- sign up is free it's like Pinterest.

P.S. I'm trying out new ways to take photos- so hopefully you like them.

Can I just say that I love the new TheFancy boxes? The food one is green (as was the one that shipped my last purchase) but they have different colors for different boxes.

Again, love the new packaging.

Recipe cards

Info cards. I was missing one for some reason.

Since I was late in getting my box I already knew what was in it but I tried not to read reviews too much so I could have my own opinions.

Mina Harissa's Mild Moroccan Red Pepper Sauce: Gotta say, at first glance this didn't seem to be up my alley. I love being adventurous with food and I love every kind of food BUT I suck at making it on my own so I worried if this would be used at all. It says to use as you would a ketchup or salsa so I'm in. This will be perfect with some kind of protein- I'm thinking we'll use the chicken in our fridge with this stuff. We'll see what happens! Side note: my bottle had some of the product on the outside so I worried it was opened- it doesn't appear to have been opened though so I think it was just from another bottle or something.
Price: $18

Divine Brine's Pickle Relish: This was my missing info card- luckily I'm smart enough to know how to read a label. Pickle relish. This will be great for BBQs. I'm thinking brats and hot dogs y'all. Very Texan of me to put in the y'all. I actually never use relish but I'll try this since it has REAL ingredients in it. If I don't want it though, no worries, my bf will gladly use it. Price: $5

Dave's Coffee's Madagascar Vanilla Coffee Syrup: I was way excited to see this. Because I am a coffee fanatic? No, I actually NEVER drink coffee. I was excited since I knew my bf would be over the moon for this stuff. Sure enough, he was super stoked. They recommend trying coffee milk- mixing this with ice-cold milk, apparently it's a Rhode Island thing. I'm sure CJ will try that but my guess is that this will end up being used a million different ways in the kitchen- starting with putting it on some ice cream... ah yeah.
Price: $12

Bobbysue's Original Nuts: Baked almonds, cashews, and pecans- with sweet sugar on top. It's good- duh. I actually had gotten this in a Love with Food box and knew it was good then. This is a bigger bag though so I get to munch and crunch more on these little yummy buggers. Like the rest of the stuff in this box, the ingredient list isn't as long as my arm AND a portion of the proceeds for this company goes to building shelters for homeless animals. Awesome sauce. Price: $3.49

Zoe's Chocolate Co.'s The Pretzel Bar: If you read my blog or know me, you know I ate this right away.  I barely was able to snap a picture before eating it. Dark choco with pretzels in it smothered in salt crystals. Yes, smothered. I shoved some, unexpectedly, in my bf's face and he grimaced at the amount of salt. It's super salty, maybe even too much for me and I'm one of those obnoxious people who adds salt to chips at restaurants. It's a pretty interesting bite though and if you can handle the sea salt, the salt and dark chocolate balance each other pretty well. Price: $10

Stem Citrus Spritzer: The only non-food item in the box was a fun surprise. I've actually always thought about getting one of these. I have a bunch of different tools and such for squeezing lemons/limes and this is adorable and super clever. I think it's awesome AND an excellent way to avoid the drowning of your food with citrus. Admit it, you've accidentally eaten some fish that ended up tasting like straight-up lemon juice.
Price: $4.99

Cinco Jotas' Pata Negra: Mmm- last month's chorizo was so good so I was excited to see some more meat. Goodness that sounds awful. Anyway, this is Acorn Fed Pork Should Ham. Craziness. Eat it like you would prosciutto, alone or on bread- you get the gist. Price: $25

Update: This stuff is super salty- like cured meats are- and I would suggest eating with bread for sure! It has a very earthy flavor probably from being acorn fed.

Verdict: I totaled this to be $78.48- not bad at all considering you would pay about half that. Now, I used one of their $25 off deals which considerably helped the cost as well- so for me this was a mega deal. In all honesty, this wasn't as stellar of a box as the last one BUT last time around I had some meh products that turned out to be AMAZING when I actually ate them! I love a good food box and this is one of my favs- you get really good stuff that doesn't have a bunch of crap in it (aka ingredients I can't pronounce). Sign up for TheFancy and check out the stuff for yourself!
