May Juniper Review

I'm finally getting around to the review of one of my fav boxes, Juniper! I have to be honest, I had SUPER high expectations since my April box was beyond amazing and perfect for me! Less talking, more reviewing!

Don't forget to enter my latest Giveaway!

Type: T.O.M. Box
Cost: $28/month
What is it?: This company which started up in 2013 delivers a deluxe box complete with your choice of tampons (20+), pads, pantyliners plus treats! Juniper begins each subscription registration by choosing from the 6 brands of tampons they offer (which you get a variety of absorbency) OR pads, then you choose whether you would like backup protection (pads/pantyliners), and if you would like some Midol thrown in!  You choose the date you would like to receive the box and then the box has a phone number on it to text so they can track your monthly guest so your box will always be on time and continue customizing your box. Each box comes with a bevy of treats including honey sticks, chocolate, tea, snacks, etc! You get a starter box to begin and after that you work with Juniper to customize based on your needs.

Ta-da! Unboxing!

Juniper's info cards are some of the best out there. I LOVE the pics and her notes are always fun and funny.
Here's my fav life-affirming message on this card: "Be your effing self." Done.

Protection and Such: You know the deal with T.O.M. boxes so I won't dwell on this. I get my brand AND exactly what absorbency type I want each month. Bam. And some Midol too! I've said it before and I'll say it again, Midol is the best for headaches- I threw these in my purse right away. Price: ~$8

Now THIS is what I was excited about! I was drooling seeing the Juniper box on my porch since I was dreaming of the Jer's Bar and Cocomels from last month!

Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter: This is an all-natural version of nutella, it's nuttier but still good! I've had it a bunch before especially since these individual packets aren't expensive and are easy to take with you. I actually got some as a care package from my bf a few yrs ago when we were apart for 2 months. Anyway, it's not my fav but it's good and I was desperately wanting SWEET things so I straight-up ate this right from the pouch. Price: $0.80

GloryBee Honey: I always say I love the honey sticks that are always included in Juniper but I super love that Lynn keeps changing it up and sends out different companies' honey all the time. This month we are trying GloryBee's Blackberry, Mango, and Mint. I haven't tried any yet but I love those flavors. Blackberry Honey is always good! Price: $0.35

Cherry Bay Orchards- Dried Montmorency Cherries: Definitely the least exciting product for me. Dried fruit is ok but I never feel satisfied just eating dried fruit straight up. This is pretty low cal for dried fruit which is nice. It sounds strange but dried fruit can be pretty high cal- think about eating dried apricots, you eat like 10 whole apricots! Anyway, this is supposed to be pretty pucker-worthy but I haven't dug in yet. It just hasn't drawn me in. Price: $0.67

Davidson's Organics- Tulsi Tea: I love the design of this tea and thanks to Juniper for sending me another new tea brand! The Hibiscus Flower sounds especially pleasant! Price: $1.11

Pretzel Crisps- Original: At first, I was bummed to see these. Why? Because I have a gigantic bag of these downstairs! Well, actually, it's portioned into ziploc bags but you get the idea! I actually have the mega bag of the original and some small bags left of the Tucson Cheese and Cinnamon one too! We love the Original though so we always have it on hand. We discovered these last year but when I realized most people hadn't seen these, I realized it was awesome of Juniper to introduce them to the masses. You can pick these up anywhere and they are awesome. Really low-cal, baked, and perfect alone or paired! Juniper suggested having these with the faux-nutella but I suggest these with Laughing Cow cheese wedges- it's the best and makes for an excellent snack. Price: $1.25

Clean Getaway Soap Co- Lip Balm: This little balm tin is pretty cute and I love that it ISN'T strong-smelling. It's very soap-like though... not when it's on, but in application. Maybe I got a bum one but usually with lip balm tins you just smear your finger and apply, well... nothing got on my finger. I ended up having to scrap it out with my fingernail to get it out, it's like a brick of soap. That being said, it feels awesome on. My lips feel super silky. I'm hoping the application gets better since, like I said, it is great on! This product comes from Denver, CO and I've been finding TONS of the Juniper products are from CO- It's making me long for my home-state! Price: ~$5

Verdict: There seems to be a kind of pattern with Juniper, probably not on purpose, but I'll pretend it is. The pattern is a month of savory and a month of sweet. This month is the "savory" month. Obviously, it's not really savory per-se but it's geared towards more real food while last month was a sweet attack. I only say this since March had more snack foods and Feb was sweetness again. That being said, there are ALWAYS sweet things included. I have a huge sweet tooth though which is why April's box was so amazing to me! It's great though that Juniper offers a variety because let's face it, everyone is NOT like me. There were some good products this month although it just so happened that I already knew most of the products this month and even had some in the house already. I know it's too hot to send out chocolate so I'm curious about the summer month shipments... and excited! And if you're wondering about my JJ's Cocomels craving, I ordered some online (no stores carry it within 5 hrs) and devoured them. This box ended up being valued at $17.18 and if you get the rest of the protection the value is higher- I don't get pads/liners which are included in the price of the box since I don't use them. The value will probably get up to about $22 with the rest of the usual products. This was a solid Juniper box but I wish I hadn't already known the products so well.

Oh, another side note! I finally found a near-by place that sells the J&M Cheese Straws from the March box!! SUPER score! Juniper has spoiled me with too many cravings.

Referral Program Update!!! Because of this young business' huge influx in new customers they had to end their free promotional box program (effective last week on 5/6). All customers who referred me before that time will get a free box but with the backlog it may not be until August. Juniper is looking to roll out a new referral program asap so I'll keep you all updated. And just because the referral program is on hiatus doesn't mean they aren't taking new customers, so go sign up and try out this amazing box!

  1. Don't discount those dried cherries! I felt the same way as you at first but they seriously were probably the best dried fruit I have ever eaten!

    1. Ya, you win. They were super good. My bf asked one day if he could have them and then FORCED me to eat them since they were so good. Delish.
