Birchbox vs. Ipsy: April Matchup

It's FINALLY time for the April edition of Birchbox vs. Ipsy! I completely forgot about doing this post and have been dying to put it up the past week! I'm finally getting around to it and can't wait to post even though I knew this month was gonna be a close match-up! I got both subscriptions the same week and have tried out the wonderful products now which means it's time to see who comes out the victor!

BTW check out my latest Giveaway!

Ipsy has dominated so far- to catch up, see January here, February here, and March here!

Round 1- Hair Care:

I loved my other sexy hair product from Ipsy and was happy NOT to get another dry shampoo and from Birchbox I wasn't excited to get a detangler (like I need that). The results? The Powder Play definitely works, it gave my roots lift and volume. And the Beauty Protector product from Birchbox? Sooo good! It might even trump my Bb Shine! I use it for shine and to bring down my flyaways and wow it smells sooo good!

Winner: Birchbox

Round 2- Eyes:

Ok, so my products did NOT match up great this month. Rough to put them together- there are two rounds that I couldn't really match right so you get what you get. Ipsy's eyeshadow duo has been a winner with me, while not as great as my Yaby one I got from Ipsy two months ago, it is still a really great color. The Birchbox sample was bleh for me. Didn't do anything and not enough to really supply any results. The problem is that Caudalie products never satisfy me!

Winner: Ipsy

Round 3- Au natural:

Ok, not really au natural but this is a lip balm NOT a lip stick and a neutral nail polish. This was easily the biggest toss-up of the month for me. I would have tied it if I could have but that didn't seem fair. This color is one that actually adds to my collection which is saying a lot. This picture doesn't show it well but it's pretty. The mint yes to carrots chapstick was nice and natural and smelled great. The kicker in the end was that I have better chapsticks and it wasn't the greatest value to me, plus I like this new nail polish for me. If you want a GREAT lip balm- I completely recommend The Honest Company's balms. I just got one in another box and it's amazing!

Winner: Ipsy

Round 4- Face Time:

Again, I did what I could with match-ups! The Be a Bombshell blush (Sweet Cheeks) from Ipsy is pretty great BUT it doesn't rival my other Be a Bombshell blush (Beach Please). Ipsy subscribers actually got one of those two so a lot of people got the Beach Please, but this is about MY bag... Anyway, this is a pretty great blush and FULL SIZE! This is unfair though, since this was a good product against a TERRIBLE one! Juice Beauty's sample is tiny but the worst part is it smells disgusting. I finally used it on my face and ugh- mistake!

Winner: Ipsy

Round 5- Extras:

This yes to carrots scrub was my "extra" on my info card. It actually contained a serum too. Really, Birchbox trounced Ipsy in "extras." The bag isn't my fav, Birchbox gave out a yr to Women's Health Magazine, and there was a duo sample as the extra. I had to list it though since 1) the serum is GROSS. Seriously, no good, I didn't even want to put it on my face but I did for the sanctity of reviews and 2) the facial scrub is AMAZING! Really, it is sooo good! If I hadn't just bought some I would go get this right now. It's not harsh (no beads) so it's perfect with my clarisonic and it smells amazing! Definitely recommend it.

Winner: Birchbox

Looks like the winner is Ipsy!!!

While Birchbox gave me two great products, the rest was pretty bad and Ipsy had good products for me across the board so it won out. Looks like Ipsy is leading the year 4-0! See you next month for the May matchup!
