May BarkBox Review

Yes, I know I'm behind. I'm doing what I can. I HAD to put in my BarkBox review now though, since as most people know, it's probably my favorite box. Henry LOVES it and I love spoiling my pup!!

Make sure to enter my latest Giveaway!

BarkBox:
Type: Pet box
Cost: $29/month includes shipping- $18/month with 6-month subscription
What is it?: This just for dogs pet subscription box offers 3 box options: Small & Cute (0-20 lbs), Just Right (20-50 lbs), and Big & Bold (50+ lbs). Each month you receive 4 or more products and present for your dog. Products can include treats, toys, shampoos, and even leashes. A great thing about BarkBox is that they give a portion of each box's proceeds to help dogs-in-need. Use my referral link AND get $5 off your first box.

First you must smell the box, then sit by it, the lay down next to it.

He needed to be groomed but dang, he is flipping adorable!!

Ooo! I LOVE the new paper/wrapping for BarkBox- too cute.

First look!

Boom!

Two cards this time. The info card (which is always adorable) and an "activity" card. I like the idea. I've never gotten one before so I think it's a new thing for BarkBox.

Barkworthies- Natural Treat Stick: So this was my first item to take pics of. Why? Since taking pics of BarkBox is a tricky thing. Henry goes crazy immediately, he KNOWS it's for him. And he WANTS the treats. I have to take all the "everything together" pics first and then take pics of products so I can immediately let him have each one. It's adorable. When I saw this all-natural treat stick from Barkworthies, I was stoked. Henry is a big chewer and our house is littered with bully sticks and he plows through dental chews and such, plus Barkworthies sends out the best products for your pup- healthy and natural. Henry devoured this. It was really cute. He was unsure for about 1/2 a second and then ran away since he always thinks we will take his treats back?? Weirdo. These are "treat" sticks, so different than what I'm used to seeing and we loved it! Might have to get some more! Price: $1.58

Barkworthies- 6" Bully Stick: Odor-free?? Yes, please. Bully sticks are stank-tastic so odor free is amazing! This is a grass-fed bully stick too which is huge for me. This was a no-brainer, Henry loved it. The end. Price: $4.20

Planet Dog- Orbee-tuff Raspberry: Umm. What the blank is this? It smells like mint. No joke. How weird, right? Or amazing!!! Henry is crazy for this toy. He brings it everywhere and it is supposed to be super durable which is great for a chomper like our pup. It's a treat toy too but we don't do that tons. Henry prefers to run around like a crazy man with it. His new fav, replacing the balls from last month. These toys are just the perfect size! Oh, and they donate 2% of all their proceeds. Awesome. Price: $5.99

Bocce's Bakery- Green Juice Treats: I can't say it enough, BarkBox provides me with a never-ending supply of amazing treats that my pup loves and are made with GOOD ingredients. This is our second Bocce's Bakery bag from BarkBox which is great with us. These treats are sooo good for your pup and they are Henry approved. Price: $9.50

Loving Pets- Grill-icious Beef Treats: 100% all-natural beef with sweet potato... and that's it. Really, no more ingredients. This is all about the beef. They look like mini burgers and are huge for Henry. We had a hard time breaking them so just gave him a whole one. Well, he made his way through it quite quickly so obviously he was a fan. We are going to chop them into smaller pieces but I think it's a winner. Price: $7.99

Verdict: Altogether this BarkBox ended up being $29.26 which is a little over the box's cost although when people sign up I HIGHLY recommend getting a 3-month or more sub (we started with 3 months I think) since it greatly enhances the value. Well, another winner in our household with this month's BarkBox. I always love the boxes but I'm also shocked sometimes by what Henry thinks. I would never buy a mint-scented ball for him and turns out he loves it! Thanks BarkBox- you win again! Sign up for this awesome box using referral link and you will get $5 off your first box.

May Treatsie Review + Giveaway

My second Treatsie box came and ooo boy was it good. I liked my first month-which I won!- but I LOVED this box!

Treatsie:
Type: Food Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: This brand new candy- think bon bons- subscription company features artisan chocolates with a technological flair. When you open up your box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get (I had to-sorry). How do you not know? No info card or top of the box explaining what's inside. Instead you look up the treats online or on their app and find out all kinds of things about your treats. Sign up now to be alerted to the next round of memberships. "The Couture Candy of the Month Club."

I wasn't planning on taking a pic of the envelope but I loved what I saw when I peeked inside! Cold packs! I was wondering what they were going to do in the summer months since even when it isn't chocolate you are gonna get some HOT candy!

Plastic wrap sealed and two keep-em-cold buddies for the trip!

The box!
I love the quote: Like likes a box of chocolates. Hehe.

First look. I LOVE their design btw.

The info card.

Treatsie is soo different in that they don't send out info on your treats, you have to go online to look them up and there is TONS of info about each product!

TREATS!!

The Caramel House- Naked Turtle Caramel, Vanilla Caramel, and Beer & Pretzel Caramel: I LOVE caramels so I didn't even wait to look these up and split one immediately with CJ. It was the beer & caramel one that has a wafer of pretzel in the middle- craziness. The flavor was amazing!!! The beer wasn't noticeable except it tasted gooood!! The others? Phenomenal! I'm a sucker for a plain vanilla caramel but all three were excellent. CJ and I have to say these are some of the best caramels ever. Yes, EVER!! Sooo good. I really want to try the Cookie and Caramel variety- since it sounds amazing. Yeah, I'm blabbing now but these were great. Price: $5

Loblolly Creamery Honey Vanilla Bean Marshmallows: Last month's marshmallows were my fav part of the box so I was excited to see even more homemade mallow-ness. Uh- heavenly. CJ and I LOVED these and they are made with the best ingredients! Pure cane sugar, local wildflower honey, sea salt, Madagascar vanilla beans. Hmm. We should have saved some for s'mores!
Price: No idea! I'll guess $4-$5

nutwhats- cashew coconut scribble: What the what are nutwhats? Haha, I'm clever. Really though, I had no idea what to expect from these. Well, their motto is "twistedly addictive confections." Woah- are they right? These were amazing! I didn't think I'd love it (coconut) but it's just out of this world. CJ and I couldn't get enough of these- we tried to hold back but they are just so good! Price: ~$6

nutwhats- pecan scribble: Same deal as above, so good. I really can't pick a fav since they were both amazing but I might lean towards to pecan scribble. I WISH these were available to buy online but the individual bags aren't... yet! I really can't get across how good these were! Price: ~$6

Verdict: It's SOOO hard to price these since SOMEHOW Treatsie finds these amazing treats in little shops around the country but I estimated around $21 for this $15 box. The marshmallows are not available online (lucky Little Rock folks) and the nutwhats are available as gift boxes and in bulk online only right now so really the best way to get 'em is by subscribing to Treatsie! I'll say it again but I obviously loved this box of treats!

How much did I love it? I contacted Treatsie (since they are amazing and do giveaways too-I mean I won one last month!) and asked if they would give a box to a reader and... they are!!!

That's right, a free month of this amazing box of wonderfulness for free!

May Kona Kase Review

I'm finally getting around to writing my Kona Kase review! I was psyched for my very first box since this fitness box seemed right up my alley- food and energy bars NOT supplements etc which I can be super wary about. Why hadn't I signed up for this before?? Dumb Laura. Anyway, I think I've found my new fitness box and they have a GREAT referral program- you get 50% when you sign up with my link! That's stellar!

Kona Kase:
Type: Fitness Box
Cost: $15/month includes shipping
What is it?: This fitness box is all about making you your best! Kona Kase is a subscription service delivering premium endurance nutrition samples right to your doorstep, monthly. Each Kase has an assortment of premium endurance nutrition samples from gels to bars to granola and more. Each Kase aims to help you fuel peak performance. Use my link to save 50% on your first box- yep $7.50 off!

This box is super cute. I love a good graphic.

First look. I should say that this box was much larger than I expected. I mean Kona Kase is only $15 so I wasn't expecting a bunch of stuff.

Boom!!! Soooo many goodies!!

Info cards-ish. Ok, the top one is a quote card, which I love. Nothing like some inspiration from Teddy!

The only weird thing, that I didn't notice at first, was that my box was missing a product. Don't judge me but I only noticed right now... I thought there was tons of stuff but apparently I'm missing some Popcorners. I've thought about trying that product since I LOVE popchips so maybe I'll e-mail Kona Kase about it...

My box was sent for review though so I got a bit of a variant than other boxes I saw, I didn't get some bars other people got but got more Gu and Luna products. It's all good for me though- the bag of Popcorners would be priced around $1 if it actually is missing.

Luna Blueberry Bliss Bars: Yes! I love Luna bars and have no idea why I don't buy them. It was cute, my bf said he wishes Luna bars were for men too since they actually taste good. Well, I've never tried this flavor and ooeee they are delish! I had one for breakfast the other day and I felt re-fueled and I got to eat something delicious. Price: $2.26

GU Recovery Brew in Chocolate Smooth: Umm, why is this the worst pic ever? Anyway, this is totally up my bf's alley. I actually took ALL my Kona Kase stuff with me to NY except for this. I knew he'd like it more. It gives you maximum recovery from workouts by using amino acids, vitamins, and electrolytes.
Price: $3.33

GU Brew- Electrolyte Drink Tablet in Lemon Lime: I should have said it before but these low cal GU products are NATURALLY SWEETENED. That is SOOO important to me. I was drinking an energy boost thing from another box and then realized it was sweetened with aspartame... aka gives me major headaches. I am ALL for low cal but not when it makes me sick! This brew combines sodium and potassium to accelerate the hydration process. I could definitely use that! Price: $0.54

GU Chomps- in Lemon & Strawberry: These buggers were definitely the products I was most excited about. 1-They give you two options, caffeine or no caffeine. 2- They are tasty little bites. 3-They give you energy! I am actually having my first one before my run today! I did mention that I crammed ALL my Kona Kase stuff into my bags right? That's how much I wanted to try them! Price: $6.62

GU Energy Gels-Roctane ultra endurance and Vanilla Bean: Everyone knows about GU gels right? I grew up with always having these around- my parents are bikers etc. Anyway, I've never really had them myself and now I do! Score. I'm more excited for the chomps but these would come in handy on the bike rides CJ and I are promising we will do when I get home! Price: $5

Verdict: This box is a bit hard to price but this $15 box is around $18.75 which is over the price and that is WITH free shipping! I loved my box so much that I signed up on their site- I've become a subscriber-score! I think I've said multiple times that I got really out of shape in the past year so that's what I'm working on really hard right now and I think this box is what I need. Energy and fuel for getting my butt into gear! Sign up yourself with my link at Kona Kase and get your first box 1/2 off!!

May Ophelia's Apothecary Review

Yeah! I'm catching up on reviews starting with a NEW box for me and a relatively new subscription service. I actually found Ophelia's Apothecary through a reader and I didn't know too much about what to expect- they launched in April! I was so excited since I love indie products aka small businesses and homemade schtuff! Less talking more reviewing!

Ophelia's Apothecary:
Type: Indie Box
Cost: $15/month
What is it?: "A style profile can customize your treats to your preferences, you can cancel at any time or skip a month. Packages will include 4 or 5 fabulous treats, some full sizes, some samples, sometimes a piece of jewelry, information about the products in your box, and coupons and specials just for you based on your spending habits with Ophelia's Apothecary. All products, for the most part, will be straight from our studio, unless I find a treat to include that you might like from elsewhere. If you refer someone, please message me their name and once you have signed up 4 people, you will get one month free!" Right now, you can also sign up through FB but you can also see products and buy on their website. Boxes are also available on a quarterly or bi-annually service!

Mention me (Broke Beauty Blogger) when you subscribe and get a FREE roll-on perfume!

Umm this arrived in a day!! A Day!! The fastest shipping ever! Bravo!

A quick untainted peek. Yep, spillage occurred... sad face.

The theme btw is Ocean Mermaid Goddesses. Fancy!

As happens sometimes, some spillage occurred. Boo. I was so bummed at first but the only real "damage" but to my info sheet and my umbrella- which I was bummed about. I love those details.

three.in.one bubble bath, body wash, and shampoo in "Oceane": First up, the offender! Yep, this was what leaked. Boo. Ophelia's Apothecary (Deborah) seems super nice and I'm sure she would've replaced it but I didn't bother since most of it was left in the bottle. My bf cleaned up the bottle while I took pics and he kept commenting on how good it smelled! Stop the presses. My bf likes this scent? Sign me up! Really though, it smells sooo good. I've had a three in one before from Philosophy and I used it all the time for bubble bath and body wash so this is a big go for me! Price: $12

Shea, sea salt, and sugar Luxe body buff in Coralia: This stuff looks awesome! I love a good sugar scrub so I knew right off the bat I'd like this and I'm interested to use it with the mix of sea salt and shea. And the smell? Awesome sauce. The sugar btw is vegan cane sugar- I love going the extra mile in things! Price: $7.50

shea butter lip balm in pink lemonade: I had been warned prior to getting my box by Ophelia's Apothecary that this could be melty. She usually doesn't ship lip balms too late and this May has been steamy in a lot places. All you have to do is let it cool down when you get it but I needed no warning since mine arrived 100% perfect. No joke. This is amazing. Repeat. Amazing. This has a permanent place in my purse (which is the only lip stuff that has a permanent spot) and is maybe my all-time fav lip balm ever. Strong words, I know. It smells great, feel great, and probably tastes great too! I'm so glad Ophelia's Apothecary decided to include this cause it's amazing!!! These vegan balms are gluten-free and the shape keeps them from rolling away- again, it's all in the details! Price: $5.25

*P.S. The other flavors/scent look amazing- check 'em out on their site since I don't want to list ALL of them.

Perfume Oil in Sirene: I'll be glib for a minute and say I don't love perfume roller balls. I have no idea why, they are just meh to me. I have one I like, but the others all have weird roller balls or don't smell great. Whatever. Anyway, I wasn't expecting great things with this. Boom. Wrong. The roller ball is perfect, dispensing enough without seeming like it's leaking and the smell AGAIN knocks it out of the park for me. I totally recommend Sirene. It's gooood. Price: $10

This is a total side-note but mid-opening the last product, I realized I didn't take pictures of the pretty packaging. Everything was individually wrapped in such an adorable way. Super cute.

Handmade Mermaid Anklet: This is super cute and obviously fits in the theme. It's a bit big for a bracelet (it is an anklet) but for show reasons I slid it on and because of the materials was easily able to twist it up and make it a bracelet. They should call this a two in one. This is just a cute piece of jewelry with a vintage pearl sea shell attached. Too cute. I'm not a big anklet wearer but I'll give it a try. Price: $10

Verdict: Umm, yeah, I'm sold. For $15 I got $44.75 in products. I checked my math again and that's right! Craziness. I love all the products and I can't believe it but my bf liked all the scents. You know you have a good thing when everyone likes the smell. That lip balm is freaking heavenly and am tempted to buy more right now... but I'll wait until I run out... Anyway, I totally recommend this box based on what I got- go take a look on Ophelia's Apothecary now and check it out- they have a spoiler pic (top left) of their June box which looks stellar and don't forget to mention ME (broke beauty blogger) when you sign up for free goodies!!!
