March The Jungle Stand Review
Soooo excited! My very first The Jungle Stand box came last night! Months ago when I first discovered subscription boxes, I discovered subscription boxes, as in I spent way too much time scouring the net for new and interesting boxes! One box I found via YouTube vids looked amazing and delicious but I didn't subscribe since I hadn't taken the plunge into subbing anything yet. I bookmarked their homepage and forgot all about them. When I was making my Monthly Sub List I was going through bookmarked pages and what did I re-discover?!?? This amazing box! I signed up and I loved it!
The Jungle Stand:
Type: Food Box
Cost: $9.92/month includes shipping
What is it?: From their website: "We are an original taste-ing BAR. And every month the BAR will offer bitesized samples for taste-ing. It’ll be a very unique experience for sure certainly one you’ve never had before. Perhaps odd maybe even strange at times. So take a taste and enjoy!" Each bar comes with 6 tasting samples that match a theme.
I love their box- the logos are excellent.
Unboxing! This month's theme is "The Baker's trip around the world." I am a giant sweet tooth so I was mega-excited for this one. The info card is obviously huge- it's like getting 6 little cards on one giant one. This one came with pics of the food, the name, where it's from, and a description. There are also some extra notes on it like which ones can be toasted.
Ok- a bit shiny but you get the idea. There are always 6 tastings in a bar and you can choose how you want to taste. You can taste blind- and check the coordinating color/info later or learn while you taste. Love that they give you the option to keep yourself "in the dark."
Hopia: This bean-filled pastry from the Philippines came with saltines as well- this one is filled with sweet yellow beans and was delicious! I hadn't had a bean-filled pastry before but had heard they were good- there are also savory options. Mmm.
Pineapple Cake: This popular Taiwanese pastry was the first one we tried since I am not Pineapple's biggest fan. This was crazy good though and was so sweet it blocked any tart pineapple tastes! Seriously, so good.
Pastelitos de Mango: This Cuban pastry is similar to an American turnover except there are no turnovers this good in America. So far this box has been 3/3 in amazingness. It's hard but this one tied for my top taste in this box- that's right, I couldn't pick ONE favorite, I had to pick two.
Macaroon: I didn't know what to expect looking at this grooved finger-looking treat. Sticky and covered in honey, this Lebanese treat is extra sweet... and delicious. It reminded me of a doughnut- mmm.
Rice Cakes: This burrito looking treat actually contains two Vietnamese rice cakes: banana and pine-leaf flavors. When I was in Korea, I had my share of these types of treats and I was never the biggest fan. We tried these though and again, not my favorite. I didn't care for the pine-leaf version at all. These are supposed to be the sweetest treats in the bunch, and as CJ said, they tasted very starchy.
Baklava: I think most people have had baklava, the honey treat from Greece, I know I've had my share. How did this particular one fare? SOOOO good! One of the best baklavas I've had (Greek Fest had some top notch ones). Mmmm - this tied for top taste for me and CJ.

This actually seems nice! :O I saw a box before and wasn't impressed, but I would have loved this one! I might subscribe. Thanks for the review. :D
