TheFancy Food Box March Review

My TheFancy Food sub arrived this week! I have to admit I was pretty apprehensive since my Feb regular box left much to be desired. I had read a review of the food box though and it looked pretty good so with mixed emotions I tore it open!

*Don't forget to check my current Giveaway!

TheFancy:
Type: Lifestyle Box
Cost: $39+$2.95/month for regular box
What is it?: For those who don't know, TheFancy is like pinterest but for products especially cool and amazing items. When you sign up you choose 3 categories from Men's, Women's, Kids, Pets, Home, Gadgets, Media, Sports & Outdoors, and Workspace. You then receive an array of some of the cool items that are on the site. I subscribe to Home, Gadgets, and Workspace. The worth is well beyond the $30 it costs and you receive amazing products!  TheFancy also pairs with celebrities to make boxes- Ashton Kutcher's was $45 and currently P!nk has her own box for $35. There is also a food box for $39 right now and a Coco Rocha one. Check it out. Use my referral code to sign up for TheFancy- sign up is free it's like Pinterest. Use code 25OFF3 for $25 off.

So, first off, I should have weighed this baby cause woah- it was heavy. A giant box that weighed a bunch- alright I am intrigued.

TheFancy boxes have some of the worst "unboxings" ever- they are so stuffed full in tall boxes that when you, ta-da, open the box you see nothing! Let's remove the stuffing!

A little better- I can see some of the products and bubble wrap surrounding what I assumed was the heavy objects- time to see what's in the envelope.

Usually, the envelope has the info cards (you'll see them next to the products) as well as some stickers, but in the FOOD box they included recipes! How awesome is that?! The recipes actually look stellar- I have 2 drink ones and 2 food ones including a pancake recipe- mmm.

Fine and Raw's Raw Chocolate Bonbons: These smelled amazing! Chocolate isn't usually an overpowering scent but these bonbons hit your nose right away! This had two artisanal, raw, organic bonbons inside that had a creamy center. CJ and I ate these right away and wow, they were AMAZING! Seriously- so good. Price: $8

Biscottie Di Vechio's Toasted Almond Biscotti: CJ was excited for these since he literally was making a cup of coffee at unboxing time. He said they were good. The best part about these is the simple ingredients. No fuss no muss. Price: $9.95

*Update: These are yummy- I eat them like cookies-mmm.

The Jam Stand's Drunken Monkey Jam: I didn't know how I felt about this Jam. We actually eat PB&J more often than most adults do but jam with sugar-coated bananas, a splash of rum, and a dash of lime? Let me hesitate for a minute... CJ is completely stoked about this though and I will of course dive in and try it!
Price: $10

*Update: This was actually super super yummy!!

Misstea's Serenitea: This tea smells fantastic. It's also really pretty. Caffeine-free which is perfect for me (such insomnia last night-erg) and it combines passionflower and lavender. I am so excited to give this a try.
Price: $15

Charlito's Cocina's Chorizo Seco: Drool. I love chorizo. I mean I'm not a "Meat, Meat, Meat" person, but I think the best meal is a fresh baguette, some amazing cheese, and something like prosciutto or salami or chorizo. This was a good find in the box! Price: $16.67

*Update: Holy crud-o-la this is super good. Fatty deliciousness. Seriously, soooo good.

The Brooklyn Salsa Company's The Tropical: I was unsure about this "salsa" because in my mind this looked like straight-up queso and salsa and queso are very different things. We popped it open though and the smell is unbelievable. Definitely has a kick to it! It says it has heirloom tomatoes, sweet oranges, coconut milk, and chilis inside- so The Tropical is aptly named. Price: $7

*Update: I LOVED this with tortilla chips. I seriously inhaled almost the whole jar all at once. It's not as spicy as it smells but it IS as delicious as it smells!

Q Kola: So we actually already know and love this brand although we had never seen the Kola before. You can pick up Q in some Whole Foods and specialty shops and we actually first found it in Williams-Sonoma. We knew the Tonic which is great for mixed drinks btw and also the Q Ginger. Price: $2

*Update: I had this last night and it was great! It may be the best Cola I have ever had (I'd say my other fav is Mexican coke- mmm real sugar). I am not a big pop drinker and when I do I go for a Sprite or something clear-colored but I loved this so much!

Q Ginger: Did I say we love Q Ginger? Well we do and have for a few years now. Yes, this isn't a new item to us but we love it so it works! It really is "A Superior Ginger Ale." Price: $2

*Update: I forget to say that this isn't for the ginger faint of heart- it isn't like any other type of ginger ale it is all ginger!

BTW the Bonbon box was already empty by the time I shot this picture...

Verdict: I have to say that about half-way through the box I realized I got the exact same thing as the review I had read- a little more checking and the only other review I found was the exact same box as well. Not complaining at all but it is a little unusual for TheFancy. So the total value of the box was $70.62. Obviously, way over the $39 the box cost! I actually used a coupon code (like the current 25OFF3) and with some credit paid around $15 for this box. I really liked the contents and it is one of the few food boxes that sends out FULL-size products. I have to admit I canceled the sub since I couldn't afford the $39 on top of the other boxes I try but it was a really fun one-time trial and since the products are so large I know they will last in our house. I would recommend any foodie giving this a try especially with the current code.

*Update: After trying more of the products- I REALLY want another box of these goodies- considering re-subscribing...

  1. Fantastic blog! I don't think I've seen all the boxes of this subject the way you've pointed them out. I love seeing websites that realize the value of providing a quality information. Thanks for sharing this!
