Juniper January Review
It feels so strange to put January, but I received this wonderful box RIGHT at the end of January! An unopened box (or slightly opened box) is always SO exciting!
Type: T.O.M. Box (Time Of the Month)
Cost: $28/month
What is it?: This company which started up in 2013 delivers a deluxe box complete with your choice of tampons (20+), pads, pantyliners plus treats! Juniper begins each subscription registration by choosing from the 6 brands of tampons they offer (which you get a variety of absorbency), then you choose whether you would like backup protection (pads/pantyliners), and if you would like some Midol thrown in! You choose the date you would like to receive the box and then the tampons box has a phonenumber on it to text so they can track your monthly guest so your box will always be on time and continue customizing your box. Each box comes with a bevy of treats including honey sticks, chocolate, tea, snacks, etc! You get a starter box to begin and after that you work with Juniper to customize based on your needs. Now on to the actual box!

Info Card/Letter |
Info Card/Letter |
This box's letter was actually really great. Usually they can be super blah or especially in January they are all "rah, rah, be the best you- be better- you sucked before..." Ok maybe not that harsh but Lynn's Letter (Juniper's founder) said to take pride in yourself and put yourself first. Her goals are even the same from 2012- Be braver. Be bolder. Not too shabby.
The Info card is probably the best I've ever seen. I know that sounds cheesy but living with and around graphic designers for large chunks of my life I notice when something really catches your eye.
Inside! |
So, I decided to cut the pic of the just opened box because I am already at photo overload on this unboxing, BUT this box literally was STUFFED to the brim! And they have their cute logo stamped on the box lid (and bottom too) which is a nice touch.
Anyway, look at all my stuff! Two bags, a box, and snack on it's own. Score!
Protection supplies |
On to the point of this T.O.M. box- protection! The box was full of tampons (my brand too) 4 light, 8 regular, and 8 super. There were 3 regular pads, 2 overnight pads, 5 liners, and 2 packages of 2 Midol Painkillers in the adorable gold bag too. Quite an assortment- for a reason too, I received a kind of "starter kit" to show what Juniper can provide. Maybe TMI but I don't use pads or liners and am lucky enough to not really need Midol either (wasn't always the case though). My PMS now comes in the form of awful moodswings (my poor, poor bf) and what I like to refer to as Superbloat! That being said I love how much they do offer- it should be able to please any woman. On the invoice sheet AND the gold box there is a phone number which you text with updates on when your next T.O.M. will land- on the invoice it also says what date your next box will ARRIVE not when it will ship but actually land on your doorstep. Through e-mail (and I believe text message) you are able to change your next box/bag of protection's contents. I could e-mail/text to say no more pads/liners or more regular tampons or something and ta-da the next box should be to your liking. I need to try this out since I am still a bit wary of not changing my preferences on my own with a login, but I understand the idea of personalizing this aspect. Instead of you changing things around, why not let something else do it for you? ~$7.50
Mmm |
Now onto the treats! How about a close-up shot of my treat bag's contents?
Yummers |
Ok- as you can see I received a mound of treats: salty, spicy, sweet, you name it and it was covered. Lucky for all of you, I am a glutton and have already devoured all my treats to review!
First up, the 479° Truffle & Cheddar popcorn. This was such a yummy treat. I admit I love truffle anything so I was sold right away and I have had 479° Popcorns before and was already a fan. I like that this was included since I just expected an onslaught of chocolate in this box. $1.60
Next up, the Allegro Teas in Queen Bee Balance, Feel Flawless, and Everyday Amazing. Whoops- I lied, I haven't tried these yet BUT I am excited to. I love the name and that Juniper provided three different options: Caffeine Free, 97% Caffeine Free, and Contains Caffeine. I avoid too much caffeine (even in tea) because I have the hardest time sleeping already and don't like to add caffeine to the mix but caffeine is good for headaches (PMS symptom for sure) so I like the mix. Btw, this is a local Boulder company for my CO readers. $1?
Honey Sticks in Cinnamon, Pumpkin Blossom, and Clover were a win for me. As the card says: sweet & spicy. I love honey sticks especially when my throat dries out during my time of the month and this was an odd mix that I've never tried before which made it fun. $1?
OCHO Caramel & Peanut Bar. The card says like a Snicker's Bar without the corn syrup and I don't know if it tasted like a Snicker's but I DO know it tasted awesome. Mmm delish! $1.99
Nibmor Daily Dose of Dark was the only downfall for me. I am a milk chocolate girl but I do enjoy my bouts of dark chocolate too. This bite however was not my thing. The mint wasn't minty enough and it was too bitter for my tastebuds. $0.82
Cherry Vanilla Dream Almonds- by Olomomo Nut Co. OMG these were amazing! Can an almond be amazing? Yes, yes it can. Seriously, these were shut your mouth goooooood! I made my bf have one and he was confounded by their awesomeness as well. Cherry-y, Vanilla-y, Sweet deliciousness. Of course they come from CO (Boulder to be exact) and I didn't discover these until moving to TX. I plan to order them online or have my family store some for me in CO. Yep- planning to horde some nuts- I am a squirrel. Really though, these were a great addition to the box- sweet but not a candy/chocolate treat. $15.99 (seriously that is how much this 2 oz. bag is- I am not estimating!)
Verdict: Price wise, I added this up to be just under $30, meaning you ARE getting what you are paying for in value. I have to say (completely my opinion) that I love that this month I don't have to worry about getting more tampons or going to the store because I am provided for! On the treats front- I loved it- I felt spoiled and OMG the almonds, I can't believe it but I am going to buy some pricey almonds online just because of this box! I think I am going to keep going a bit with this box and see if it consistently justifies the cost like it did this month! If I really think about buying a $5-$7 box of tampons each month plus one meal to shamelessly spoil myself I am well past $28 already so why not have an awesome company to it for me?? This box looks really fun.I thought it would be nice to spoil myself so I tried to sign up with you as my referral but unfortunately because I let them know that my "monthly" is more like a bi, sometimes tri-monthly, they canceled my subscription. I hope you still received the free box though!
ReplyDeleteHaven't received my first Le Parcel yet but check it out when I review it- it lets you skip months which might be perfect for you- still get to spoil yourself without being overloaded if you don't need it every month.
DeleteSounds interesting! Will check it out.
DeleteSally! This is Lynn - I'm the CEO of Juniper. I'm so sorry we couldn't sign you up - I really didn't want you to start paying $28/month if we cannot promise that we'll be able to deliver the box to you, on time, each time. I don't want to fail any of my customers - periods and lateness should not go together.
DeleteI do understand that you're disappointed. I talked to my operations team and we're really sorry! We will be sending you a box of treats for February. You can expect at least that in the mail. We're so sorry!!! xoxo, Lynn
Again look at this- obviously Juniper has great customer service!
DeleteI just signed up! I'm really liking the personalized nature of this. I love this idea. Thanks so much for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteGlad you signed up! It is super personalized! After posting this review to Juniper they immediately changed my box's protection preferences- I hadn't even gotten around to asking and it was personalized to fit me. Seriously they want to fit your needs!
DeleteOooh this one seems a little better tan some of the others...just signed up using your code :) Do you have a favorite time of the month box? I see you have tried most of them
ReplyDeleteYeah! Thanks for using me as a referral- I hope you love the
Deletebox as much as I do!
Since time of the month boxes kind of all came out at once I reviewed them all (except the PMS one)- a new one just came out- Hello Flo- and I should get that box this week or the next to review as well.
I really love Juniper- it's one of the only boxes that makes me feel spoiled- the customer service is amazing too! The founder Lynn read my review and saw how much I loved the almonds and you can see in my Feb post that she put in extras into my Feb box.
I also really liked My Cotton Bunny- very different so it depends on the subscriber's wants but I liked the box I got a lot.
I actually email Juniper about the free box, and They don't do it anymore ?
