June Birchbox Review

What the what?! Birchbox came so fast this month. I got my shipping notice on Monday and it was on the doorstep on Tuesday. It completely took me by surprise. Birchbox has completely changed their logo and website design and it just so happens they also sent awesome boxes out this month. I think this is one of the best I've ever gotten and is definitely my favorite I've gotten this year!

Birchbox:
Type: Beauty Box
Cost: $10/month includes shipping
What is it?: Every month you receive a box of 4-6 beauty and lifestyle products. Each month there are about 30+ different boxes that you might be sent which makes each month a surprise. Birchbox is a great forum to learn about and discover new products and brands. Birchbox has a points system given when a subscription plan is purchased, reviewing products, and buying full-size products in their shop. Every 100 points can be used as $10 off. Use my referral code to get started but know that Birchbox has a waiting period of usually 4-5 weeks.
BUT I just received an e-mail saying that you can sign up now and still receive the June box so it looks like there are openings right now!

Alright, it's a bit muddy as it rained all day yesterday but you get the picture- new box, new logo.

Unboxing and details. I love the inner box. The logo is great and I love the chevron inside.

The goods and the info card!

I was SOO good this month (since it snuck up on me) and didn't peek. It turns out that I ended up getting Box #26 out of 40.*

Davines- Love Smoothing Shampoo: This GIANT sample was the first thing calling my name. I love the simplicity and I can't wait to try it and see if it works on my dry & frizzy hair! This is part of a 3-part system, and yes, I did receive all 3 parts in this box. I'm not planning on venturing into a haircut while I'm away for work and I have a feeling my hair will be a wreck by the end of this so I'm hoping this shampoo (and whole system) will keep my hair silky soft and amazing! Price: $7.50

Davines- Love Smoothing Conditioner: Uh, duh, this goes with the other product. I know a housemate of mine is super eyeing this so luckily it's a pretty large foil sample so we can both give it a try. This seems like it is for a more intense wreck of hair since it says harsh & frizzy hair. Looks excellent. Price: $1.41

Davines- Oi/Oil Absolute Beautifying Potion: And this makes 3! This is an antioxidant-packed potion to tame frizz and strengthen hair over time. Yes, yes to all of that. I'm nervous to try this though since I feel like I will love it and NEED to buy the full-size bottle. Yeah, I said need, I know I'm ridiculous. Price: $0.88

suki- Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: I unboxed Birchbox with some of my housemates and when I opened this up, one of them immediately grabbed this and exclaimed how much she loves this cleanser. This is her cleanser right now and she had only great things to say about this product. Awesome. So, umm, it smelled fantastic! Lemony wonderfulness. I'm so excited to try this out and this cleanser/exfoliator duo looks like it will be gentle enough to use with my clarisonic! Price: $2.06

Birchbox + Color Club-  Wanderlust Collection: This month, to celebrate the re-brand of Birchbox, they partnered with color club to make an exclusive collection representing each city with a Birchbox head office. I got Reign in Spain representing their international headquarters in Barcelona. This color is probably my fave of the 4 although I liked the lavender Pardon my French color too. I used to love getting color club in boxes and then I finally used one and the formula blows. Streaky and it needs like a million coats which just makes bubbles. I was glad to see other bloggers with like-minded opinions about this polish and I saw some use it as a base and put designs over the top. Smart thinking. I do love the color (my pics are too dark and don't show the coral-y awesomeness) so I'll figure something out. Price: $2

Also, notice in the pics that the label is wonky. Super annoying.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics- Hi-Def Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder: Woofta, long name. This doesn't need much explanation, powder keeps your face shine free. If you don't use powder you are missing out as it brings your look together. I mean, c'mon, no shiny spots on the face! I love my BareMinerals but I will try this out. Price: $2.29

Postcards: This extra from Birchbox is too cute. I could actually see myself using these postcards!

Verdict: Go Birchbox!! I really liked this box and it actually made me excited for next month! Score! I looked through all 40 boxes after I unboxed and my only disappointments were that this 6 sample box is only counted as 4 samples since the Davines products are part of a 3-part system. I've never gotten as low as a 4 sample only box but since I actually got more than 4 things I don't really mind since it really only affects my points for reviewing. Anyway, I loved my stuff and the only other box I liked more was Box #6 which had the same stuff except for a sample from a Laq & Co Lil' Lip Duo instead of the powder. This box was valued at $16.14 so a bit low but still more than I paid!

I stopped watching Birchbox's sneak pic videos a long time ago since the stuff they showcased were NEVER in my boxes. (Side note: I still watch the Birchbox Men vids since they are accurate.) This time though I actually got their showcased June stuff and most of the other 39 boxes did too. I really like where Birchbox is heading again! Love my box! Go sign up now to see if you can still get in for the June box here!

  1. Wow, this is like the best looking Birchbox I've seen to date. I've been iffy on joining since I've seen good and bad reviews on the box. But I went and looked through them and I think I would have loved any box. Now I really am gonna have to sign up! Good job Birchbox! I hope they keep it up by the time I get a subscription!

  3. Hi Friend :-)

I just wanted to stop in and say "Hi." I'm a fellow subscription box blogger, and wanted to let you know I follow you via e-mail. Thanks for the tip of changing the number of the Birchbox link to check out all the different boxes. I heard that there were 40 variations, but didn't know of the trick to view them. Thanks! Please visit me at www.mysesameseedbuns.blogspot.com sometime.

    1. Wanted to add, I got those dreaded frown line patches, but was able to trade those for the Suki Cleanser. I can't wait to try it. I heard it smells heavenly!
