May Birchbox vs. Ipsy Matchup

Thank goodness for a good pairing! This month was HARD to match up but when you get two products from the same brand, it helps a LOT! Anyway, this wasn't a hard one for me, I love a good lip product and this gloss from Ipsy is stellar! Seriously, it's beautimous and even though it isn't full-size it is pretty large. The mask isn't bad but peels aren't my fav thing. Sorry Birchbox, it would've been hard to win against this gloss anyway.

First off, I accidentally put the Ipsy product on the left instead of the right, my bad, and I was too lazy to fix it. Anyway, this month I got a fake tan "body glow" lotion from Ipsy and a sunscreen from Birchbox  I'm not a fake tan person (I am super pale) but this one-night only lotion intrigued me PLUS it's a big sample especially compared to the tiny coola sample. I still can't let a tanner beat a sunscreen though, plus I hadn't tried the coola yet when I made that first assumption. Well, the coola sunscreen from Birchbox is pretty awesome. I really like the feel and when I went running with it, even though I was sweaty and gross, my sunscreen didn't run off completely or get in my eyes or anything nasty like that. I super liked this sunscreen!

By FAR the hardest matchup this month. The Cargo blush was the best part of my Birchbox box this month and I'd say the Mirabella lipstick was my fav part of Ipsy. This matchup could also be called favorites or I need some pink! Anyway, this is a toughy and in the end it came down to similar products. I have some pretty close colored blushes and this lipstick is perfect and new for me. That being said I fully recommend the Cargo blush as well as the lipstick. GREAT products!

Sorry, but no clue with these products and how to make them "match up." They were my leftovers from the matchups. Oh well. Anyway, this was difficult since tea and makeup don't match up well, especially since one is a one-time use and the other obviously isn't. It's a toughy though since I have a concealer I like already. The Yaby from Ipsy isn't bad, I just prefer what I already have. I liked the Runa tea from Birchbox so I think it edges out the makeup. Yes, it's shocking.

Everyone needs that little extra touch to pull yourself together, maybe with a spritz of perfume or a mani? Just go with me here. I really liked the Fabulous Mizrahi perfume from Birchbox this month, I even brought it with me on my worktrip BUT it can't compete with Ipsy who sent out a full-size polish that I really like. I've already used this color and it looked excellent! 

Ipsy is now doing extra goodies for referrals (or being a presence on their site with makeup looks and such) so I had to include my extra I received. I don't always include the bag from Ipsy but since I was doing this bonus round I threw it in. I do love the bags, I brought all of them I've received (or close to all) on my trip since they are perfect for packing up makeup and toiletries. I love the eyeshadow too- super pretty! Birchbox didn't have 6 products this month so this round is a no-brainer.

Ipsy wins 4-2!!!

So, even without the bonus round, Ipsy would have won 3-2, which isn't surprising this month. Ipsy went above and beyond in May to send out full-size products and loads of makeup aka what subscribers wanted. My May Birchbox was good, really, the Cargo blush is superb, but it couldn't compete. While Ipsy overhauled their bag in May, Birchbox overhauled EVERTHING for June including their boxes and logo so it looks like Birchbox isn't pulling punches for June... we'll see what happens!
