August Juniper Review
Goodness knows, I love Juniper! It's an amazing T.O.M. treats box and I can honestly say that this month I was craving it! I kept checking my doorstep for my nummies especially after they released a 2 second teaser trailer for August's box! You tease! Anyway, I got my goodies and it's time to review!
Juniper:
Juniper:
Type: T.O.M. Box
Cost: $28/month
What is it?: This company which started up in 2013 delivers a deluxe box complete with your choice of tampons (20+), pads, pantyliners plus treats! Juniper begins each subscription registration by choosing from the 6 brands of tampons they offer (which you get a variety of absorbency) OR pads, then you choose whether you would like backup protection (pads/pantyliners), and if you would like some Midol thrown in! You choose the date you would like to receive the box and then the box has a phone number on it to text so they can track your monthly guest so your box will always be on time and continue customizing your box. Each box comes with a bevy of treats including honey sticks, chocolate, tea, snacks, etc! You get a starter box to begin and after that you work with Juniper to customize based on your needs. Mention my blog "Broke Beauty Blogger" when you sign up to get your first box for 50% off! Deal through 8/31.
Nunes Farms- Roasted Salted Pistachios: I haven't gotten around to this yet (see wisdom teeth extraction, again) but I have to say I'm intrigued. I grew up with parents who loved pistachios while I was NOT a fan- I also hated avocados and now I would kill someone for good guac... Point being that my tastes have evolved and one thing I haven't tried (beside pistachio flavored things which I do like) is actual, whole pistachios. I'm down! Price: $2
The large, discreet box.
Unboxing!
First look! The bag of treats was huge this month!
Info card- best pic ever for sub boxes! Btw, the hearts denote woman-started companies- 4/6 this month!
Lynn's Letter is one of the few info cards I read right away, I usually read them during review time but I read her hilarity right at unboxing. This month's letter recalled a strange bout from a cat-walking class but the pt was at the end: Empower yourself! Walk your walk!
Protection: Good ol' reliable box of protection supplies in my preferred brand and absorbency- 30 in total. Not too exciting to write about although it's always nice to know I don't have any protection supplies shopping to do! Price: ~$8
Midol: I know it's unexciting to see these pics every month but hey, they are my preferences and I gotta share the whole box! Price: $0.58
The giant bag of treats!
First look!
Donsuemor Chocolate Madeleines: I have to applaud Juniper for finding an ingenious way to include chocolate during the summer months aka the "too hot to ship chocolate" months. These were the first things I dove into! I was craving something sweet and something chocolate so, of course, I opened this first! They weren't my favorites, I prefer something sweeter, but I know these would be huge winners with most people. They had a good flavor and were quite light, but it's hard to fix one of my crazy cravings without full-blown sweetness. I gave my bf one of the three though and he loved it! I'll also say, I've had the non-chocolate variety and they were awesome! Price: $1.73
479° Sea Salt Caramel Popcorn: YES! I LOVE this brand! And this big ol' snack bag for just 100 calories! Yes, please!!!! When I got this box, I was still on a no-solid food diet and let's just say popcorn is the LAST food you should re-incorporate into your diet when you have big holes in your mouth, soooo, I had to very patiently wait to eat these! I finally was able to eat them and mmm, mmm, mmm, this is amazing popcorn! I'm in love. I need to pick this up in stores! Price: $1.58
Golden Earth Neroli- Aromatherapy Body Wash in Fresh: Hold the phone! Is my favorite food box (I know it's not really a food box) branching out? How fun is it that they included this aromatherapy body wash!? I love baths and aromatherapy anything so I'm so down with getting this sample! Price: $4
I'm down! Price: $2
Numi- Assorted Teas: I'm already a fan of Numi tea but I am especially excited to try the Toasted Rice tea- super curious! Price: $1.28
Nature's Kick Honey Sticks- Keylime, Pink Lemonade, Sour Tangerine: I will always love that Juniper includes Honey Sticks AND changes up the company too! This month had fun flavors and I especially liked the keylime one! Yes, I already had them all! Price: $0.26
Verdict: All totaled, this box's value came out to around $25 if you include items I do not ask for (pads/liners). That's a bit under the box's price but still right up there- I'll give them the few bucks in shipping. I LOVED the popcorn this month and finally decided to look up retailers that sell the brand locally- that's happened sooo often with this box! Looking forward to the fall months with more sweet treats but loved the mix of salty and sweet this month.
