Beauty 101
Ok- here goes Beauty 101! I know most if not all of you DON'T need this! This is just a brush-up and more so just a way to remind yourself to put yourself first. It might even be more just for me to make sure I am following these guidelines. I know at least one person will read one of the "rules" and think "DUH! I always do that... well... almost always... sometimes..." Stop right there! This is a list that should just make yourself reflect and maybe re-evaluate. Take a look at these 5 easy rules (and Bonus one too) and think about any tweaks your beauty routine may need.1. Wash your face!
You heard me ladies and I'm sure someone is going "Duh. I always do except..." Stop right there! I wash my face every morning and night with my Clarisonic Mia and every person needs to at least wash at night. Think about everything on your face during the day- do you really want to spend all night letting those chemicals and environmental aspects soak up into your skin? TAKE OFF YOUR MAKEUP and wash your face! I recommend Clinique Take the Day Off makeup remover and Mary Kay® Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover- they remove waterproof makeup and are super gentle! Choose your own way but please for your own good, clean your face!
2. Moisturize!
In line with #1- after washing your face-moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Right now I am using Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentrè but I also really like Sephora's Instant Moisturizer. I am still trying to find a favorite but I always use something for my skin. Even if your face is oily, don't shy away from moisturizer, it keeps your face healthy and young and is needed especially after washing.
Use a face primer! I use bareMinerals Prime Time™ Foundation Primer and it is amazing- I've tried others but can't stay away long from bareMinerals. It makes my face feel super soft and it gives you an extra layer of protection between your skin and makeup. I use an eye primer as well, mainly to keep creases and smearing from happening and you can use lip primer too but the thing you SHOULD use is a face primer- protect your beautiful skin!
4. Wash you brushes!
This is simple and my BIGGEST fall-out. I need to get on a schedule of washing my brushes but for now I try my best! Washing your brushes keep your brushes from getting full of bacteria and all-together grossness. It also just makes makeup application easier and better. Simple as that. I use a daily brush cleaner but unfortunately not daily... and I use a shampoo for a deep-clean wash about every 2 weeks (should be every week!). I'm writing this step to inspire myself to be better- hopefully you all already are better than me at this.
5. Throw out old makeup!
This is a hard one for most people. I can hear someone saying "I spend X amount of money on a product and it isn't used 100% and you want me to chuck it?!?!" Yes. Yes, I do. Think of it like a haircut. Stay with me for a second. It is time for a haircut but you can't help but think do I really need one? Do I want to spend the money when my ends aren't split when nothing is really bad? So you get the haircut and ta-da your hair is cleaner, looks better, and 100 times easier to style! Same with getting rid of overdue makeup! Your new makeup will make your face look better, the clean makeup will make your face healthier, AND it'll be easier to apply! Check out this Makeup Life Span Chart from BellaSugar:

Bonus: Don't get stuck!
Yes, I know you LOVE that mascara but don't be afraid to try a new one- you may find your NEW favorite. Maybe you won't but it'll be fun to play with new products. Along those lines don't be afraid to layer! This is a great lipstick but it could be even better with a little bit of this gloss! And part three of this bonus... go crazy! Sometimes you want to try something strange but are afraid to go for it. Most likely you will get compliments on being bold and inspire other to try something new too!
Ok all. Hope these were helpful and anything but preachy- I'm gonna go wash my brushes now...
