December Bugsy's Box Review

Henry (our yorkie-poo) is crazy spoiled. So, imagine his excitement (and ours) when he got another box filled with treats and toys this month. To say he was going crazy during the unboxing is an understatement. He can smell the awesomeness and he wants it! Anyway, I've always wanted to try Bugsy's Box so when they offered me a trial- I, of course, said yes. I'm such a sucker for treating Henry and this box helped me do just that!

My pup is adorable!!

... even when in need of a groom!

December Tea Sparrow Review + Coupon Code

I am SOO excited to share this new box! Gah! I wish this was in person! Smell-o-vision would come in handy right now. These are some of the best smelling teas... ever! Oh, and 60% off discount link- yes, please!

Christmas Movie List!

'Tis the season!! So, I've been absent for about a week and it's Christmas Day which should mean no posts but my mind was focused on this topic! I was in CO for a week rehearsing and performing Handel's Messiah while driving all around the state visiting fam and friends. Tiring! It also meant not doing any usual Christmas-y season stuff aka watching awesome seasonal movies! When it comes to Halloween there is Hocus Pocus or Thanksgiving brings movies like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles but Christmas takes the cake with a plethora of offerings.

I did 5 masses in the past 24 hrs including cantoring at 3 and I am wiped so my day consists of eating my candy from my stocking. Mmm. AND movies!
Ok, my definitive Christmas movie list!
(I love using "definitive _____ list" it's such nonsense)
The list is in no real order btw!

Dear Santa...

I know I'm very sub box review (and beauty stuff too) focused but I like to switch it up with my own stuff! I've been busy making some moolah during the Holiday season and practicing/learning music for an upcoming mood and I haven't put in much time to do my posts (on my awesome subscriptions)! I HAVE been thinking about the upcoming Holidays and today I put up a letter to Santa on my Facebook page (my personal page) and I thought it'd be fun to share here!

October + November Juniper Review

It's with a heavy heart that I picked what reviews to do today. Juniper, one of my fav T.O.M. boxes AND food boxes has closed its doors. Lynn (the CEO) announced the closing on Dec. 4th and I will definitely miss my treat-filled boxes! Since you can no longer order this box I didn't know if I should post my 2 reviews but the completionist in me had to post both- PLUS these yummy boxes are fun to look at. No pricings since it didn't seem necessary at this point. Enjoy.

Fall FabFitFun Review + Coupon Code + Spoilers

It's a ways back but in September I was drooling over the Fall FabFitFun spoilers! I was checking my bank account so I could get in on this sub box magnificence and I was offered this box to review. Umm, yes please, and thank you very much! It lived up to it's awesomeness AND the spoilers for the Winter box (still have time to order!) are looking awesome. Check it all out!

October Flicker Box Review + Coupon Code

It's a niche Giveaway so good chances people!

So, this review was going to be my first one of October... Woah, kinda messed up on that, right?!!? I LOVE candles and let me tell you, they are more than just decorative when your power is out! I wanted to try Flicker Box so badly and then I screwed up with my hiatus! Argh! Well, no time like the present! Take a look at this AWESOME sub box and get in on this product!

I mean, who doesn't want to be bundled up inside, drinking cocoa, and eating baked goods, watching a good Holiday flick (got about 10 on my to-do list right now), bathed in the warm light of some delicious-smelling candles?!? Paints a pretty nice picture, am I right?!

Flicker Box:
Type: Candle Box
Cost: $25/first month & $32/month after that includes shipping
International: No
What is it?: From their site: "Flicker Box is a monthly subscription service for candle lovers! Our foundation was inspired by a love and appreciation for handmade candles. We believe that people appreciate products produced by quality artisans made in the United States. We want to connect candle lovers with people who love to make candles. Each Flicker Box contains a variety of artisanal candles delivered right to your doorstep."

My readers can save 10% on 3, 6, and 12 months subs by using code REVIEW2013. That would make a 1-year sub year sub $22.50/month!! Crazy good savings.

Zee box.

Oh, hey, I bet I know what box this is!

Unboxing.

This is the first unboxing where I wish there was some sort of smell-o-vision since the unboxing was all about smell. I opened up the box and bam! Candles!

First look.

LOADS of stuff! And the "trick or treat" bag? I was so excited- it's darling.

By the way, the dust is a mixture of unboxing candles (wax) and those paper things used for packing- they create mondo dust!

The unboxing pic had the info card in it so here's some other "info cards" they are actually business cards from the various businesses that Flicker Box sent out (and totally approve of btw).

Witch City Wicks- Trick-or-Treat Tealights: This 6-pack (and the next) was made exclusively for Flicker Box which is ultra awesome. They hail from Salem, WA (hence Witch City) and make artisan soy candle products. 100% all-natural and free of every kind of junk you can guess. They last 4 hrs each (super long for tealights) and they use quality fragrances to make them smell awesome! We use tealights all the time so these were added to our collection and then promptly used. Price: $5.75

Witch City Wicks- Poison Apple Tealights: Woah! This smell was sta-rong! (The "a" is added in the word for effect, hopefully you know I can spell strong...) When I unboxed, this was definitely the winner in strong scents! They say (on the info card) that they use materials to create a long-lasting candle with the best-smelling scents and I can vouch for long-lasting! Who knew tealights could carry so much scent? I sure didn't. Honestly, it wasn't my favorite scent but it actually burned quite lovely and it grew on me. The fact that these smells were so definite in tealights really makes me want their Holiday candles. They have a pack called Holly Berry that I bet smells fantastic!
Price: $5.75

Armadilla Wax Works- Floating Pumpkin Candle: Cute, cute, cute, cute. That's how I felt about this. I would have never guessed this was a floating candle at first sight which makes it even more adorable! The flame will naturally diffuse itself in the water so you can enjoy the floating wonder without fear of burning down the house! Did I mention it's cute? We haven't burnt ours yet, and yes, I know it's been 2 months! We bought a bunch of mini pumpkins to decorate the house for Fall and this candle just fit in so perfectly we used it to decorate too! Now that it's "ice-mageddon," I think it's time to use this baby... Even if it seems too cute to burn... Price: $1.80

Mosley Lane- The Witching Hour, All Hallows Eve, Spice Pumpkin Candles: Umm, these smell awesome. Seriously, they smelled so good. They are all Halloween-inspired fragrances but I would use them at any time of year! The scent names are notated on the bottom/info card, just so you don't think I'm making them up! They are made from soy wax and beeswax and use a natural cotton wick- I had no idea you could get so intricate with candles! Loved these 3 candles! Price: $2.50 each

The Flying Farm- Autumn Leaves: Woah, definitely the winner of this already fun box! CJ and I love this scent and I love glass jar candles since you don't need a holder or anything for them! I have actually seen this Etsy business quite a bit recently which shows she is doing something right. We love this candle and since the container is made from a mason jar it is recyclable when the candle is all used up! Extra Credit for being earth-conscious! Price: $8

Treat or Treat Goodies: This adorable bag held nummies! Yes! Why can't adults trick-or-treat? Seriously, I love candy more than some kids do, so why can't I go door-to-door getting free sweets? Le sigh. Back to the point, I loved this addition. Perfect tie in to the month's box and it's a sweet treat! The bag is simply darling too!

Matches: Super smart addition. Can you send out a box of candles without a way to light them? Well, Flicker Box took care of that for you!

Verdict: Well, this was so cute, it was bewitching... See what I did there? Really though, it was a perfect October box and I love that they kept a solid theme throughout (Nov was all beeswax-related btw). I get a lot of sub boxes and sometimes unboxing becomes a little monotonous so it makes fun boxes like this all the more special. I definitely had a smile on my face the whole time I was going through this box. Great products and the price is right with these artisan candles coming in at $29 and with the extras I would value this box at $31. This box was so fun, and was perfect for someone like me who loves candles!

Sign up for your own Flicker Box subscription with code REVIEW2013 to save 10% on a 3-month, 6-month, or 1-yr subscription! ($22.50/month if you get the yr with code!)

Limited Edition Birchbox Snow Day Review

I have sooo many boxes to catch up on and review and I do not have any kind of a system. Stupid I know, but sometimes I just do whatever strikes my fancy that day! We are in the middle of icemageddon here in Dallas so this Snow Day Box from Birchbox seemed to tie in perfectly!

December Julep Review

Julep is one of my favorite boxes. It's like a loyal friend- I always know it's gonna be good. It's also usually one of the first boxes I receive each month (if not the first one)! I'll go back and do Oct/Nov at some point but let's check out December's box! I upgraded to the full collection this month for the first time ever!

Julep:
Type: Nail Box
Cost: $19.99/month includes shipping
What is it?: Becoming a Julep Maven gives you access to all their products for 20% off as well as being part of their rewards program which earns you FREE boxes and products. To begin, you take a style quiz to determine you Julep Maven Style and your first box will be a welcome box. Each month you are sent the month's theme colors and products in the 4 beauty profiles and have the option to choose your assigned box or any other one available. You also have the option to skip any month- this may be the BEST feature at Julep. Julep also offers add-ons each month for extremely discounted rates as well as random/surprise bags/boxes all the time. Fun fact: Julep's full collection was one of Oprah's favorite things this past year.  Use my referral link when you sign up and try your first month for free (except shipping) using the code FREEBOX or JULEPVIP.

Jumbo box this month due to the upgrade!

First look!

Look at all my stuff!

This month is the "glitterati" collection I love me some glitter polishes!

Quote card

Twistband Hairties: This month's extra was a two-fer with two beautimous Twistbands. I got a package of their products recently for review (which I need to get up) and I did a subscription for three months! In other words, I love their stuff- the ties, headbands, and pins. Love it all. And how did they know purple is my favorite color? Price: $4

Julep Blank Canvas Mattifying Eye Primer: It's a terrible picture (grr getting mad about these pics my bf took- so any missing things!!!) but since you can't tell it's an eye primer- about the size of a lipstick tube... actually it's a bit bigger than that- ya, I know, the picture doesn't show it at all. SUPER frustrated right now. Anyway, I use Too Faced's eye primer and I really love it but I decided to give this a try since I'm at the end of the bottle. It looks nice and, like I said, it's bigger than a lipstick tube so it's pretty large. Cool product. Price: $22 (Maven Price: $17.60)

Julep Eyeshadow Brush: I really like this brush It reminds me of a crease brush I have that I adore- nice soft bristles perfect for light eye shadows. Totally loving on this product! Price:  $18 (Maven Price: $14.40)

Julep Sweep Eyeshadow Palette Neutrals: This is an awesome feature this month! I love using neutral on my eyes (or anyone's for that matter) and this palette is pretty sweet! This would actually be a cool addition to my purse too! It has a mirror and is small enough to not take up too much room! Editing my makeup on the go? Check! Price: $24 (Maven Price: $19.20)

On to the polishes!

These are some "not so great" pictures so I apologize in advance!

Packaging!

Gianna- Bombshell: I have NO IDEA why CJ grouped these as they were packaged- it's a random assortment of each style profile and in different numbers- sooo confusing!!! I apologize! By trying to "help" I have an even bigger headache now- sigh. Sorry, I'm ranting! I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out which polish was which and my keyboard isn't working so I'm frustrated! This gold flake polish is gorgeous though! Price: $14 (Maven Price: $11.20)

Misti-  Boho Glam, Andrea- Bombshell, Joelle- Boho Glam: I really like Misti, it's a cool wintry tone! And Joelle is awesome. Hard to see in the picture but the sparkles are multi-colored. It's silver but with super glitter power! Price: $14 each (Maven Price: $11.20 each)

Shoshanna- It Girl, Evelyn- Classic with a Twist, Celia- It Girl: Celia is the winner of this bunch for me. It's so "The Little Mermaid," I love it! I watched the first two seasons of Girls over the summer though so the polish "Shoshanna" totally worked for me! Price: $14 each (Maven Price: $11.20 each)

Mia- Classic with a Twist, Cara- Bombshell, Jillian- Classic with a Twist:  Jillian is pretty cool. It's purplish with gold undertones and sparkly. Cara is gorgeous too- I think it'll be my next mani! Price: $14 each (Maven Price: $11.20 each)

Evelyn- It Girl, Christine- Boho Glam: Extras?!?!? This is my first time upgrading so I have no idea if this is the usual or not! This is my second Evelyn in the box- although this one puts it in another category which is super weird, and Christine isn't listed as being part of this collection on the Julep website. I'm not complaining though! I'll gift Evelyn, and Christine is another great glitter polish. Price: $14 each (Maven Price: $11.20 each)

The Twistbands didn't make it into the final picture but you can still see how much stuff it was! And you can see how large the primer is aka the wand is substantial! I added this up to be a whopping $236! Wow, nelly! The box was something like $50?? Idk honestly, it's the first time I've upgraded and it isn't something I usually do so I can't remember the number. I know it turned out to be a GREAT deal though!!! I'm wearing Sienna right now which is a Julep glitter polish and I love it so I know this collection will be right up my alley. Julep is having stocking stuffer deals today AND if you don't subscribe yet, give it a whirl using code FREEBOX or JULEPVIP and get your first box for only the shipping cost!

December Wantable Accessories Review

Wantable is having an AMAZING Cyber Monday deal with all boxes BOGO aka getting your second box free!!! Yes, FREE! That's a $36 savings! This Wantable deal works for the Beauty Box, Accessories Box, and Intimates Box so if I was you I'd sign up for ALL of them- I subscribe to all three and they rock my socks off! The new Wantable Intimates box has been especially great (every one I've gotten has been great- I'm wearing a shirt from my November box in an outfit now!) and the Accessories boxes can be really great!!

With this deal I thought my return to reviewing should start with one of my latest Wantable boxes (I'll go back and write ones for Nov/Oct later) to show off how awesome this brand is and to jump on this deal!

This box was awesome btw!!

Wantable Accessories:
Type: Accessories Box
Cost: $40/month includes shipping
What is it?: Like wantable.co's beauty box this box is worth $80-$100. Every box has 4 to 5 new and unique boutique jewelry items that were hand-selected by style expert Bjorn Nasett. Experts help you in how to wear each piece which are customized to you personal style. You have the option to skip a box each month and free returns are included. Please use my link to sign up- taking the quiz and signing up is free!

The box!

Wantable boxes are all the same so I never know which one I'm getting until I open it up.

SOO excited already! Pretty scarf!

First look!

I need to buy the Holiday Box! Sure to be excellent!

The greeting on the back-my pic CJ took of the info card had my address on it so I couldn't use it but it has tons of info like what it all is (obv), brands, and prices.

Accessory Street- Carolina Scarf in Taupe: This scarf is gorgeous! I've gotten a few these past few months in boxes but this one is a new favorite! Why? It's super soft and comfortable AND it's neutral so I can wear it loads! It's also not too heavy which is super important since Texas winters are semi-non-existent. Price: $32

Abby Necklace: Wantable's quizzes are sooo good!!! I love this necklace- it's simple- understated- and silver! I love it so much!! I either wear statement pendants or small, delicate chains and I tend to have a hard time finding things that fill the latter category but this is 100% perfect. It'd be excellent for layering too! Price: $12

Ashley Ann Earrings: Umm, how cool are these?? I'm in love. I got this box this past week and just unboxed so I haven't worn them yet but I can't wait to rock these statement earrings. Even my bf thought they were super cool. Awesomeness. Price: $20

Thea Earrings: I love a good pair of studs. Since my recent sub box accessory fix, I rarely leave the house without jewelry and studs are always an easy go-to especially when I'm running out the house! I love my diamond ones but also rock my various RocksBox and Wantable studs all the times and I'm psyched for this little metallic set! It's striking but still simple. totally my style. Price: $8

So this box totaled $72!!!! That is twice what it costs and I got stuff perfectly tailored for me. If that's not amazing, I don't know what is!!! Wantable is obviously crazy good, I mean I got a necklace, two pairs of earrings, and a rockin' scarf that are practically made for me! Score times 10!!! Jump on Wantable's BOGO deal now if you haven't already and I'll be posting all my other amazing boxes soon!!
